All signings are a risk but Hopoate is a big one for Saints.

Looked like he had the world at his feet until he went off on his mission and his career never recovered.

Don’t get me wrong I’m sure he will go well over here but I don’t think he will be as good as the man he is replacing, and he won’t be coming here for peanuts.

From a Wigan point of view I’m not concerned that we haven’t picked him up.

He’s another that is in the midst of an awful team full of negativity but he’s not long turned 24 and had a lot of NRL experience under his belt, could be another that comes over and does well and one of the bigger Superleague teams looks to take on.

What happened to the belief that Welsby was earmarked to play full back next season?

hes coming in at centre to replace Naiqama

Started off a 1 but not played there for some time. I’m sure he will be coming in at centre, but may get games at 1.

For me 1 was always his best position and with how versatile Welsby is I wouldn’t be shocked to see him tried at centre with Hopoate moved to 1.

I think that was well over due to be frank. Almost felt like Carter didn't have the heart to sack him at times.

I'd have him as an experienced number 2. Especially if we're going down the Peet route.
