Absolutely. I get your POV as well. Nobody is chuffed to bits with how the squad is shaping up for next year but I do think we’re all on a downer and that usual optimism will build at some point throughout the off season. I’m just trying to look for positives because there are always some. I’m starting my list of with these-

1-Lam has gone.

2-We’ve signed a couple of props.

3-French will be back and he’ll improve the attack on his Jack Jones.

4-Kids will be a year older and should have (a bit) more support.

5-Lam has gone.

6-We’ve won grand finals before with Thornley and Sarginson in the centres (not together).

7-Lam has gone.

So reports say that Leuluai looks set to play on next year which takes up our quota spots as it stands. Anyone think that Willie Isa should perhaps make way if an opportunity to bring in an overseas player comes up?

Willie Isa shouldn't make way before Tommy!

I wouldn't be surprised if Thornley ends up like another Clark: despite all the fuss, at the end of the day, hardly ever gets a game!

There are reserves next year so anyone not selected for the 1-21 should still get a game.
Also just get a feeling that Sarg will only get one year at centre. We all know his best form for us has been at full back. Bevan will go back to Aus end of 2022 so if Sarg does sign on a 2 or 3 year deal he maybe being brought in to succeed French at full back.

I don’t think Sarginson will come back to be honest. It feels like Tommy may just stay now and that’s that for our recruitment.

I may need to revisit my list just to cheer me up.

Tommy is a Wigan legend no doubt but there’s absolutely no way he should be playing on next year. A really bad use of a quota spot and unfortunately he just isn’t good enough anymore. It really is a poor decision for him to go again.

Looking forward to what the new props and Miski can offer but on the whole it really is looking bleak for next year. The sad thing is, with the poor standard of super league, a couple of decent signings could easily make us contenders again but we seem to have missed the boat on anything worthwhile.

would love to be proven wrong but it’s looking less likely that we have anything exiting up our sleeve.

The club are really hoping we’ll ignore the state of the squad and just buy a season ticket because of the 150 years thing aren’t they?

I’ll be surprised if we shift over 5,000 tbh. I’m a die hard and I’ll be there but it’ll be very much from a feeling of obligation, as others pointed out last week. I can’t see any casual fans rushing down to the ground as things stand and is keep selling cheap tickets or giving freebies away isn’t sustainable.

It all feels like we need a reset sooner rather than later.

Missing out on Williams and Leuluai going round again would be a real kick in the teeth.
