Absolutely. I get your POV as well. Nobody is chuffed to bits with how the squad is shaping up for next year but I do think we’re all on a downer and that usual optimism will build at some point throughout the off season. I’m just trying to look for positives because there are always some. I’m starting my list of with these-
1-Lam has gone.
2-We’ve signed a couple of props.
3-French will be back and he’ll improve the attack on his Jack Jones.
4-Kids will be a year older and should have (a bit) more support.
5-Lam has gone.
6-We’ve won grand finals before with Thornley and Sarginson in the centres (not together).
7-Lam has gone.
Forgive me but I’m not sure you mentioned that Lam has gone?
The way things are looking for next year I cant see me or my family being enticed back. Havent been a season ticket holder for probably 10 years due to limited finances when my daughter came along but she has been asking to go to a game for the past 2 seasons and we have refused to take her due to how s**t the team has been to watch
None of the announced (or rumoured) signings are anything to write home about and just smack of desperation/lack of ambition IMO
True that last year was abysmal and the two previous year's rugby was nothing to get excited about.
However, French will be back 2022 and he's the most exciting player in Super League. Marshall is as quick as any wing man going and hopefully Field will be playing and we'll see his pace. The new wing man Miski looks handy too. I've no worries about the pack provided the new coach plays his first team props unlike Lam. The halves are a bit of an unknown with Tommy going around again. How Smith and Field will go we just don't know but our forwards will be far better next year not being hampered by Lam's crackpot team selections.
I y grandsons and they love it. Next season I'll have my four season tickets again and although there's doom and gloom around I'm looking forward to seeing some exciting rugby again. With having probably the three fastest players in SL the prospect of next season is something to look forward to.
Bring your daughter to a game, I honestly do think you and her will enjoy it.
We’ll be better, no doubt about it in my mind but we’ll need to be. I’ve said all along I’ll judge the recruitment fully when it’s all complete and Rads/Lenagan says no more are coming in. The signs are worrying but I do get the sense there will be a couple of outs and a couple of ins yet and we’ll then see where we stand. I don’t think there’s much of a defence we can put up for the club over the halfback situation because they haven’t had the best half in the league leaving dumped on them recently but I’m not giving up hope that we can bring somebody in for that position. I do wonder if Jai Field may agree some sort of termination but that’s nothing but a guess. I notice Benji Marshall has said he could be playing on. He’s even older than Tommy but he still looks comfortably good enough to play over here.

Perhaps, members of the younger generation like your grandchildren are enjoying it as they have never known anything better.
As for Lam not playing the best props, what other choice had he got when with the exception of possibly Singleton, the rest are either not good enough, not big enough, not experienced enough and one at the end of his career and as for many of the different team selections by Lam. the numerous injuries, especially to key players like Bateman, French, Field, Gildart, Hardacre at various time of the season and a above average number of suspensions might explain that situation.
The situation at Wigan will not improve unless IL gets a top class experienced and successful Coach together with a better, bigger and more experienced squad of players.
You cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear which due to the financial state of the club has been the case over the last three seasons or so.

I really do hope im wrong and hopefully the coming month(s) will bring some good news i.e. further recruitment. We sit at home watching every Sky Wigan game with pizza's etc... and Holly enjoys it for the most part but when we have got close to turning it off due to the dire nature of whats on show it doesnt help to try and keep her interested (or me and the mrs for that matter).
Im sure we will give it a go next year at some point once covid risk eases a bit more but will have to see

So you won't take your youngster even though she's desperate to go because of :- Last 2 seasons have been s**t, bear in mind thats off the back of us signing Hardaker, Hastings, Burgess, Bateman, French plus others
Yet, your concerned about the signings (lack of and quality) for next year so not going to buy season tickets again?
What chance do the club have?
I appreciate its a much more nuanced conversation than this But honestly, people just constantly bad mouthing the club, signings and more importantly of late whipping themselves up into a state of faux outrage over rumoured signings that aren't even true is doing themselves or the club no good. People just need calm down a bit.

I started in 76/77 - it was 6 years or so of downs before the highs got as high as they ever will There will always be ups and downs, thats what the ride is all about

I think that's a perfect way to sum everything up. Since last Thursday, we've seen some ridiculous posts on here and everyone does need to calm down.
I'll admit tho, I'm guilty of it too. I find myself getting annoyed with stuff that IL and KR do. ATEOTD tho, what good does it do to slate them on here or not go? They won't (for good or bad) be around forever and the up and downs are part and parcel of following a big club.

Hence the retention of Lam as Coach!
Being grand children and you g maybe that is the case, maybe you could offer them your de lorean and transport them back to your wish of everything perpetually being 1985 to 1995 ????
Or, maybe they just enjoy going? Maybe they're not weighed down with negativity of people who are always being negative who are constantly telling them that "Thugs aren't as good as they used to be". Wake up call, they weren't always that good Nostalgia isn't what it used to be!
As for the financial state of the club Whats your answer? You throw that comment out without any nod the implications of covid over the last 2 years AND hiw thise implications will affect us for the next 5 to 10 years, which by the way, as for all clubs, will be SIGNIFICANTLY!!!!
Sell the club? Let me know ow when this guy who has to have significantly more than Leneghan comes along offering to throw 30million at us over the next 10 years comes available- until then its just boring and achieving nothing repeating it
I've always said the Wigan fans (just like any fans of any club) will get what they deserve. Weve had 10 x times our share of success, and sometimes people need to invest a little when thigs aren't going as well rather than expecting it to be just handed to them easily on a plate over and over again with someone else paying for it
My 2 x lads miss 25% and 50% of matches regularly due to work/uni 3 season tickets will be purchased again next season I appreciate others may not be able to do such thigs, I'm fine with that, but constantly running down a club without offering positive achievable solutions and not even contributing to the solution is, well, ill let others finish that sentence off for themselves.
