Hardaker staying by all accounts. Wigan told him he could speak to clubs last week but any deal involved a fee and needed to be done by Friday and nothing came through.

If that's true, and I've no reason to doubt you, I'm glad.
I've always believed that there's no point keeping a player who doesn't want to be here. But on this occasion, I'm glad the club hasn't jut rolled over and created problems for itself ... especially when some of the alleged stories about why he wants to leave are frankly ludicrous (his missus wanting to live closer to her mates being one of them).

It’s come from Matt Shaw in the men and his info seems ok most of the time.
I’m with you, it’s so important we stop being an easy touch for players. Yes there has to be understanding but it’s a fine line between being that and being made a mug of. It sounds like they’ve done exactly what I’d hoped and that grant him the release on the basis that somebody stumps up a fee. We’re not talking about a run of the mill player here, we’re talking one of the best players in the league at his best.

Part of me is glad that we've stopped being a doormat, but at the same time I don't think ZH is the person to do it too.
We're talking about a guy with previous mental health problems etc. We stand firm with him, even tho he's not moving for money, but family reasons. We are then soft with guys like Williams who are purely money motivated.
First, he’s not actually that good as this season has proved and secondly, he’s too easy to wind up which is ok when you play mid table plodders like cas and Warrington but the Aussies would just exploit it
Haha still annoyed that Wire didn't get to spend 250k on him I see

Doesn't 100% sit right with me.
I’m sure they’ll work with him to make things as comfortable as possible whilst he is here but I’d back them to the hilt regards asking for a fee. It sounds like they’ve tried to accommodate him as best they can and the interest from other sides isn’t big enough to stump up a fee to release him. There isn’t a great deal Wigan can do about that and it’ll be now up to Wigan and Hardaker to work out the logistics of him getting to training.
I’m not sure comparing it to Williams is easy for any of us to do tbh. I don’t know enough about the actual facts of the Williams arrangement to be confident we did just roll over and play nice. I sense there’s more to it than that and it comes down to this agreement for him to come back not being worth a great deal and us just not being able to afford it but trying to save face by stepping aside and trying to look like we’d been very decent about it all, when we had the right to kick up a fuss.

But Zak is an adult, the club have stood by him more than most would have done, if the accounts are correct he was offered a time frame to find a club nearer home and couldn’t. Zak decided where to move too, he could have moved somewhere nearer his job than ponty,
And the comparison with Williams is bizarre, Zak is under contact Williams wasn’t.

The only bizarre thing is you saying ZH is an adult. As far as I can see, he's acted like an adult in all of this. As an adult, he moved to where's best for him and his family.
Btw, it doesn't take a genius to see the comparisons... Williams had a legal agreement to join us (or that's what the club said). We should have demanded a fee to break that agreement, just like we are doing with ZH.

That would make me think one agreement is water tight and a fee ‘must’ be paid to release him (if we ask for one), whereas the other really wasn’t. I’m not sure how you get a legally binding agreement that asks a team to pay a fee for a player that doesn’t belong to you anymore and hasn’t done so for 18 months.
