Good second row forwards at Wigan have always been capable of playing at centre if needed in emergency as proved in the past with Bill Ashurst and in more recent seasons with John Bateman, Liam Farrell and Willie Isa.

In KPP's case, I am in no doubt whatsover that he is capable of playing centre, if circumsatances in team selection required it.

Especially when in todays game, players now have to be now more flexible than in the past!

Centre is one of the hardest positions to defend no doubt it's where teams try to stretch defence and ask questions. Though second row and even half is also a massive part of that edge D, numbers and slide wise to be good in that area you already need a full understanding of that edge D. To play in that position is only a question of doing it sure it will take some game time but some centres while being great tacklers never quite become top defenders. From what I have seen of KPP he seems to have the tackle technique and what it takes upstairs to understand edge play until he's tried there though we won't know .

It just shows the state of the game and how the rules have developed over the years that in the British game we have almost written off the centre position to be some kind of catch all for second rowers who aren’t good enough to play that position in their own right. With people like Newman and Wardle on the scene now, I hold out a bit of hope that this nonsense of playing second row battering rams even wider will come to an end.

Another hit off the press scoop from Dan on the other site stating that he defiantly knows that French is either coming back….or he isn’t.
