As well as potentially getting Dureau, is there a quality centre out who's out of contract for at the end of the season?
We desperately need a strike centre.

Exactly - as far as I can tell these 'rumours' have come from Wigan fans saying he'd be a good signing for us. Doesn't mean he'd want to come or that the club want him to come.

This is a classic example of the sort of things that cause problems between some Wigan fans and the Wigan club.

Fan desires for new signings somehow transform into rumours that it's going to happen. This leads to massive, sometimes completely unrealistic expectations. Then, when the club don't deliver, they get lambasted - even though they never had any chance (or intention) of signing such and such a player in the first place.

We need to kill this one right now. Scott Dureau has NOT been linked with Wigan in any capacity, official or otherwise. His name has been mentioned by fans who would like to see him in Cherry and White. That is all.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and state that I don't want Wigan to sign Dureau or any Aussie Halfback for that matter. The key to success as shown by Leeds and Saints is consistency in key positions, achieved in their case by having British players in those positions.

Any antipodean is always going to want to return home at some point and in our case we've got to extremes of that. Tommy who's a rarity having stayed for such a longtime and Finch who by the sounds of it can't wait to return home, with the latter of the two being the most common outcome of signing overseas players. The chopping and changing of players in such vital positions has such a detrimental effect on a teams hopes for honors.

Because it's a great club with huge history... there's nothing wrong with thinking that a player could be swayed by that ?

It's a rumours page that's all mate and the fact he's OOC at the end of the season and Wigan are losing both 6 and 7 means fans will speculate. Doesn't mean he's a stick on to come to Wigan or he'll leave Catalans but there's no harm in discussing it is there ?
