We did have some horrific performances under Wane, they were few and far between mind, but I don’t think I’d ever categorise one of them drubbings as “not interested”. Where as under Lam….well there’s too many to mention.

But, Wane had better squads with better signings!

I don’t understand your point.

Wane was (and still is) a far superior coach to Lam. Look at the quotes made by some of the squad about the sheer lack of standards, even KR joins in which amazed me to be honest - if he saw that happening and is trying to play the “we always have high standards” card, why didn’t he act?

Lam had a team capable of being so much better. He just couldn’t do it. And he couldn’t do it because he is a poor coach who I wouldn’t trust to coach my clubs U7’s team. So when Leigh come out parading Lam as their saviour I laughed my head off.

Wane is miles better. Can’t think what year it was but when we made a push for the grand final and won with a lot of kids in the side. We’re as lam resorted to playing people out of position week after week. I do think he will do better at Leigh but I think that is because of the standards of the Championship. Maybe coming up against the bigger sides they’ll struggle with no game plan.

2016 I think.

Possibly he will but as you say he’ll be coming ho against sides with far less quality and with a team that, by rights, should be absolutely dominating the league. Derek could put a frog in charge and they’d win the league at a canter.

No doubt, there were some Wigan supporters who also burst out laughing when it was announced that Peet was to be Head Coach of Wigan,

As one said to me, what a let down when you look at the names of Coaches we have had in the past.

Another saying, how is it that St Helens can keep finding top experienced and successful Coaches from down under, but we can't.

As Teacher would say, could do better!

Holbrook and Woolf had 2 first team coaching games between them when they came here.

But you don’t know that yet? Equally, I don’t know yet if he’s any good. Would he have been my first choice? Hand on heart no. By the same token, who would I have chosen? I have absolutely no idea. Genuinely none.

Let’s say we’d gone all out and got Craig Bellamy or Mal Meninga or Trent Robinson. There’s no guarantee they’d do well and we’d be in the same boat of not knowing either way.

Michael Maguire hadn’t coached as Head Coach before he came, that turned out pretty well. Just give Peet a chance. There’s a lot of work to be done in my opinion before we’re challenging properly again but I still don’t think those times are far away either. Patience is going to be key in 2022.
