Some Salford fan said to me and I quote "You are by far and away the most Handsome & Knowledgeable Rugby League Fan in England!"

I thanked him and went on my Merry way!

Yeah - I can see 2 players currently on say maybe 1.5Aus Dollars or more (Circa £800k a year) coming over her to play for them 4's current contracts of about £200k a year between all 4 of em!!!!

Now I know you are you equivalent Account/s on the other site keep spouting this nonsense over and over again, and deep down there will be some strange reason why your asking for Flying Pigs & Unicorns etc. but I really, really, really would like to know what the point of constantly doing this is???

Are you on the wind up?
Are you trying to make out that the club "Could" do this but choose not to, to try & show the club in a bad light
Are you trying to say the club "Should" do this even though it will plunge us further into the RED and use up extortionate amounts on the salary cap (Because the current players now would have to then count on the salary cap)
Are you trying to say we should employ 2 "Top" forwards on Top/Top dollar and release Bateman/Farrell and possibly 3 or 4 others as we won't need them as these 2 are that good (Even though they'd be 33 and 35 next year
Is it that you know them 2 in particular are busting a gut to come and play in SL for Wigan and they'll pay for almost nothing?

I know the majority will ignore your ramblings, but just in case anyone is undecided as to the validity of your statement, just explain to me "How" this is achievable/sustainable

The two suggested players are pure fantasy and not Wigan type signings either.

That being said, I do think the squad would be stronger if we swapped Shorrocks, Partington and Isa for a bigger body in the forwards, whether that be prop, 13 or 2nd row. Maybe KPP could/would be that guy, but Peet seems to see him as a back.

Something will have to give at some point. There just isn’t going to be room for all of Isa, Shorrocks, Partington, McDonnell and Smithies in the same team/squad. They’re all slightly different but similar in many ways and to me Smithies is the clear leader of that group in terms of quality. I like Shorrocks versatility, so that leaves Isa, McDonnell and Partington. I think if you could re-jig the squad and get a big, powerful ball runner, who has a threat close to the opposition line in for a couple of those, you’d have a much better balance to the squad.

100% agree.

Part of me wonders what Peet could have done with Greenwood.

Absolutely one should be IMO. You look at Friday and one prop, however good he may be, won’t close the gap on its own (because you need the whole squad to find a way of playing to that intensity they managed for 30 mins but over 80 mins) but it’ll help. I like the way the prop rotation is going in the main but it’s still short of a lead man, a man that will get out there against Saints and say ‘let’s have it’ and will take it to them and drag the rest with him. I thought the starting props had a crack on Friday but we simply shared the spoils in that spell and then got worn down.

We’re a starting enforcer of a prop and a couple of strike backs short for me as a minimum. The halfback/hooker spots may need work as well in the next off season or two.

Pretty much my thoughts too, especially after the Saints game. All the current props are contributing in different ways but none really stand out as a leader/enforcer type.

Question is, does one exist that is a realistic target?

Martin Taupau, no club down under is interested and Manly don't want him, certain experts on here reckon he is unobtainable for Wigan, Yet it's the type of signing Leeds, Saints & Wire will probably pull off, bit like big Konnie, signs for Leeds then for Saints but that's ok he's not Wigan standard

It’s hard isn’t it because we’re in a league that can’t compete financially with the NRL, so it feels like unless you develop one yourself, a real prop leader is going to be hard to sign. I suppose the obvious target for a high quality, starting prop would be Luke Thompson (if he comes back to superleague) but there will be a bidding war if he decides to head home and we won’t win one of those.

We could do with stealing a forward version of Field or French from down under. A prop or a big back rower to add some real punch would round the pack off nicely.

Who's off contract Zak, Bevan, Powell any more? I know I'm dreaming but I would keep Bevan it's great to watch him and Field.
