I’m just presuming French is off and anything else is a bonus. I’d absolutely love to keep him though and he is made for this league. If he does head home, I don’t think there’s any guarantee he gets a regular game but that’s not based on his pure talent and more on the fact they seem to like 6ft 4, 16 stone wingers over there and pretty much every club has a top quality fullback. He’s too good to be sitting on the sidelines.
Johnstone to replace Bibby to give us a Field - French - Johnstone back three...
Similar feelings on Johnstone - probably too big of a risk with 2 ACLs and a bunch of concussions but the back three above would be simply incredible if all were fit.
Don’t underestimate how good Marshall is for us, comparatively speaking I’d guess he’s not on a huge wage either.
I’d be happy with TJ if French is going home, Bibby would provide decent backup if/when injuries happen. If we loose Bibby too then TJ is too bigger risk IMO.
I'd rather have a big body like Thornley, or MacDonald than TJ. It just works better across the board. They are strong coming off our own line, difficult to handle 5 out (especially with our movement) + they can switch between centre and wing easily. One player, who can two positions very well are a god send.
i would love to have an attacking threat of Field & French for as long as we can make it happen. Hopefully we can keep both and not let either go to a rival SL club
I agree.
With regards to the Johnstone rumours, sorry not for me, have we not learned anything from Manfredi?

If TJ were to come and French were to go we could look to bring in McDonald in the centre which i feel is his best position.

I agree Marshall is a very good player for us and whilst he maybe lacks the hype others get, he always makes sure we start our sets off well and when the opportunity presents itself he knows his way to the line.

Possible, but it seems like a lot of cap space. I'm just not sure if TJ is worth it. He seems to be a Wire type signing.
Might be slightly controversial, but I'd take Charley back - if the price was beneficial to Wigan. He'd be a 31 year old proven try score, with big game experience. He's also quite robust injury wise (or I think he is).

Wouldn’t touch Charnley with a barge poll.
Well past his best and simply doesn’t look interested anymore.

I think Charnley would get more out of that deal than we would.
I don't like it when Wigan provide safety nets for players who fancy having a go somewhere else. Granted, in Charnley's case we didn't do that at the time, and even though his Union adventure went wrong almost immediately (surprise, surprise), we refused to take him back. But he's been nothing special at Wire at all, so I certainly wouldn't take him back now.
I would be very nervous about taking Johnson on board. If the knee injuries weren't enough of a worry, the head knocks would be. Doesn't ,matter how good your S&C team are if players are suffering multiple concussions. Dom Manfredi/Joe Greenwood should be lessons learned
