Agreed, we now need to see Mago step up, if he can't put in a better performance than Singleton yesterday he's surely gone, Wakey would seem the ideal game to give Hill a first team run out.

He had a decent game yesterday Ellis.
Always looks like he can do more minutes. He will probably have to over the next few weeks.

Great shout, he ran for 77 more metres than Matty Lees who Saints fans have been telling us is amazing.

Didn’t even realise he was playing

On the the back of a beaten pack Lees doesn’t look good. I don’t really notice him like Thompson,Passi and Walmsley. Although in the final his try was class

Mago has gone at the end of the season anyway.

The only time I've seen saints play like saints this year has been when Wolf was sitting in t he e coaches box alongside Wellens.

They lacked that 100% effort 100%of the time we've been used to seeing the past 3 years

I watched an interview in the week with Tommy Makinson, who was saying how relaxed everyone was in the build up to Good Friday and that it comes from Wellens, who he said is a laid back character and is really relaxed himself. It sounded a bit of a world away from how I’d imagine Woolf being described, especially after watching Wellens himself commenting how intense he was in a recent podcast. No two coaches are the same but Woolf clearly focussed hugely on those effort areas. If you start to see a crack in some of that work, you’re a real chance against them.

This is what I posted on Red Vee earlier in the week

My only worry is if he’s capable of being detached enough from them to be ruthless. He’s been there for years and played for years with the likes of Lomax, Makinson, Roby and Walmsley.

I can’t imagine Woolf being worried about administering bollockings or saying a few home truths.

I’ve noticed on the pics from last night WCC celebrations that the players were all in different suits. Woolf would’ve had them all in matching club suits with club ties. I think it’s little things like that which matter. It’s setting standards and my concern is if these are being eroded slightly.

These next few games will give us the answer. We are more than capable of beating Wigan and Warrington, of course we are but we have to start returning to the levels we know of.

I’m not naïve enough to think Saints won’t be right there at the business end but it was an interesting comment from Makinson. That podcast with Wellens highlighted how intense Woolf was and how high his standards were. There clearly is a hangover from that WCC win/trip and while that won’t last forever, it feels like it probably wouldn’t have been allowed to happen in the first place with Woolf at the helm.

Of course you are capable on beating Wigan and Warrington on the day and so is anyone else on their day but as it happens St Helens was not capable yesterday and that is a fact and not a "if he would have done this or passed the ball or put it down reason they lost excuse"
