Perhaps it’s just impossible to get someone in who would be anything approaching the class of Roby.

Lussick & Dwyer could well be the best option for them at the moment.

An area Wigan will also be looking at too I’d imagine, I’d love us to have an attacking type player at 9.

I don’t think we will tbh and I’m happy enough with that. I expect we’ll extend Powell and continue developing Brad O’Neill. It’s the right way to go IMO.

There’s clearly no replacement for Roby but it unquestionably weakens them. I don’t rate Dwyer but I can understand they’d take him to just spell Lussick now and again.

Wishful thinking on my part.

Powell seems to be a player that coaches perhaps appreciate more than the supporters do, does a lot of the tough stuff that often goes unnoticed, a leader too.

I do quite like Dwyer though and can see why Saints would go for him.

He isn’t for everyone Powell but I think we’re set quite nicely with him and O’Neill working together. Sometimes Powell needs reminding that he needs to carry the ball to keep defences honest but when he does, the rest of his game is fine. I’m a huge fan of O’Neill as well and he could be very good indeed.

Backs, backs and another back is what we’re looking like needing.

Seems like KPP is 100% going to the NRL. Wayne bennett confirming that the dolphins have missed out on the race for his signing to Newcastle Knights.

With bibby also looking to have signed for huddersfield, we will need to have signed at least 1 specialist centre. Anybody know who is on the market?

I am hoping the club already have this sorted or as good as but interested at who seems available.

Wane looks to have changed his stance - quoted in the Australian press saying Victor Radley, Sam Walker and Jackson Hastings are all being considered. Although Radley's dad is English and Walker was born in Yorkshire so no-one could complain about those two really. Great news for England if they decide to commit. I know RL has always been less than stringent on eligibility rules but am I right in saying players must commit to any one country for at least 5 years?

Saw that. It gives me great hope Saints are starting to make one or two iffy decisions. It’s not that it would be a weak spot as such having Lussick and Dwyer rotating but it’s one hell of a downgrade on James Roby, both in terms of quality but also influence.

i'd seen a post on twitter this morning

dont think the Saints fans seemed to happy with Dwyer, but also resigning themselves to the fact the Roby may not be going round again. Dwyer was also likened to 1 trick Mick by one poster :)

He ain’t a patch on Micky Higham for me. He’ll do ok for them in 10-15 minute bursts if he’s allowed to just run and run. In longer spells, where he needs to bring others in to play, he’s an absolute headless chicken. They’ll still be pretty good in there as Lussick is a good player but it’s hard to put in to words just what losing Roby could do to them. He is inspirational for them.

Injuries and form losses must be worrying him. Even guys like Walmsley and Knowles, who have been incredibly consistent for a few seasons look off their best.

Said before that I would be fuming if I was him about the Lomax situation.

Isn't just a Woolf thing though. We rarely got to see Cunningham go up against the Aussies as he always needed an op.

i think its that they are most worried about as he had managed to keep his performance and time on the pitch to an unbelievable level in his latter years. We only need to look at SOL and Scully at Saints as examples of class players, who perhaps played on too long, and their ability to put their bodies through it week in week out. Yes, they still had an impact but not often enough for some fans
