On the subject of Cooper. Be more than happy with him coming in. I like the idea of a 1 year deal too. He won't be going to the NRL so the onus is on him to earn a new contract for as long as he wants to play. Mid 30's seems to be the new norm for props being at their peak or near it. Everyone wants a Peacock or Menzies in their squad and his experience will be invaluable to the young props as long as we eep them. Havard will be off to the NRL at some point but i hope it's later rather than sooner. Smithies has come on leaps and bounds this season (i never thought he was good enough, i was wrong and happy to be so) I don't see Byrne as an NRL type signing so could be a one club career man. He just needs to keep getting bigger and stronger, well stronger, he is a pretty big lad to be fair. I don't think he will lose those loose carries and dropped balls out of his game but if he makes up for it in go-forward then no problem. I just hope someone in the club is explaining to these guys who go over to Australia that the grass isn't always greener and it could kill your career for the sake of 1 good contract. Williams has done well to get what he gets but he won't get nowhere near it again, I was only happy to see Tomkins, Burgess and Bateman back. I wasn't expecting the extreme drop off in pace from Tomkins but he doesn't half make u for it in general RL play. Great player. Burgess was done for me when he came back and said he wanted to go back over in his first interview, Now he is at Salford and no chance of it happening again. Bateman is a very slow burner but much better this season than he was the last. If indeed KPP has signed for Newcastle for 2024 i would be on the phone asking them to have him now. Why should we train a player for them. This isn't a loan and we can replace him with someone else. But, yeah
I'd have Cooper
