Sometimes I wonder if it’s a legacy of 2006, since then Wigan seem to make sure there are a number of old heads around resulting in contract extensions to players like Isa.

That last line added with his age is the worry for me, at 34 at the start of next season and a lot of miles on the clock and also a brutal style he probably should already be slowing down big time, Wigan have to just hope he’s a freak and can carry on at this level for another year or two, Wire are probably thinking/hoping the opposite and if he’s fallen out with Powell that’s made the decision easier.
In todays prop market there is going to be very few guaranteed slam dunk signings so I am happy with this, although the shorter the deal the better for the club.

With question marks about French staying, do people think it’s the right decision for the club to retain him? Let alone him wanting to stay. He will (rightly so) want to be one of the top earners at the club but can we justify that for what currently is a player playing out of position/back up? In my opinion very few (if any) wingers deserve to be paid top whack and for me French isn’t one of the top wingers in the comp. Would that money not be better spent on an actual specialist centre as for me that’s a glaring weakness currently and even more next season.

We all know he wants to go back to Australia, but I don’t know of any clubs that want him over there, unless the Dolphins get very desperate. But if there’s any chance of him signing for another super league club, then we can’t let that happen. We all know how dangerous he is.

That’s the worry but In a salary cap sport you can’t keep players just to stop opposition teams getting stronger when it could actually hinder your own team.
