Good shout is the Dolphins to be fair.

When you look at the outside backs in the NRL they all have pace and athleticism.

I was at the Wakefield game yesterday and there were several occasions where he had an edge channel to exploit and failed to. Channels Field and French would have comfortably exposed as would probably 80% of the other SL fullbacks.

His injury was caused by him attempting to exploit a huge gap on the edge about 20 m out and was caught in a heavy gang tackle by 3 players.

His passing game is outstanding but I’m not sure it suits a 6 it’s more of a second pivot so would be a risk going with him as a main playmaker.

Biggest issue is his discipline twice yesterday he was pinged for gobbing off, both when Hull had the ball. It’s something he simply cannot shift out of his game and something he will get crucified for in the NRL.

The guy is massively over hyped imo.

People talk about his passing game, but don't mention how many times these killer balls just don't come off. In the game at the DW he pretty much killed the game off with a stupid & unneeded flick pass.

You then get to his discipline, or lack of it, would anyone have wanted him on the pitch Vs Hudds in the cup? That was a time for cool heads, staying calm and trusting the process. How would he have reacted to Hudds tough defence on the day?

Is he even in the top 10 FB's in the league? He's certainly not top 5 as these are streets ahead.

Such a tough call on Field and French. They’re both absolute class but to pay huge money for a winger is something not many do and you want the pair of them to have their hands on the ball as much as possible. What will be will be and we’ll crack on.

Have people seriously forgotten Billy Boston, Martin Offiah, Henderson Gill, Jason Robinson, Green Vigo, John Ferguson ... ?

Lethal wingers, who the crowds packed Central Park to watch.

I appreciate we didn't have the salary cap back then, but to suddenly decide that having deadly wingers is a luxury we can't afford is staggering to me.

Nobody is saying that in isolation

But if French decides to move on because he a/ Doesn't want to play on the wing and that's where we primarily want to play him or b/ He gets an offer that we can't much for salary cap reasons (Which is a very, very complicated decision) then it will be what it will be.

My take is that it will be more of a than b

But - What can't be argued is that there needs to be enough money left in the Pot & Budgetted for wisely to have the correct amount of Forwards & Squad

None of us have access to the full Budget/Salary information but I trust Wigan will do whatever they can to try to keep him but there will be limits & Parameters that they need to work within. We can definitely keep both, its just at what cost to the rest of the squad.

It's not like the days of signing Offiah when we already had 6 or 7 of the best three quarters/FB's & Half backs arguably in the world
Imagine saying we can sign Offiah but you need to lose 3 of Botica/Lydon/Bell/Robinson/Miles/Gregory/Edwards to do so (Hypothetical argument but sure you'll get the point) or even Betts/Clarke/Platt/Dermott/Skerrett etc which would in turn have had a significant effect on the team/squad.

Signing Offiah on top dollar and then saying were going to play you at Fullback in place of Steve Hampson for arguments sake is more akin to the problem here
If we already have our No1 choice FB in Field (If that's what the club thinks) then the decision may be out of our hands anyway.

Should also have added

I'm not going to waste the next 3 or 4 months worrying and stressing over what may or may not happen.
I'm going to sit back and enjoy the time we do have watching them.

Being laid up currently I've had plenty time to read a lot more on this site and other sites (ill think you'll get what I mean here).
The other site is ridiculous

They're already lambasting Leneghan and Rads for signing Charnley and Ratchford and not spending money and being tight based on nothing more than their own rumours that suddenly have become fact. Sticking their knives into Powell and Thornley amongst others.
They seem that intent on finding fault with stuff I do wonder if some of them actually enjoy the game they're watching

Agree with all the points you make there Jukes.

Ventured over to the other site this morning for the first time in a long time, found myself in the sam powell thread. By christ i don't know what he has done to hurt some of the people over there. I subscribe to wigan tv and the interviews pre-game for cas were very telling of the club's stance on Powell. He sounds invaluable from an internal point of view and seems he will be going the coaching route at the end of his career, already started to do by the sounds of it. Also acting as mentor and building a strong relationship with o'neill which will do wonders for the lads development.

Let's be honest aswell, he isn't that bad of a player really is he? Certainly not as bad as he is made out to be over there. Centre needs to be our main target for next season looking at potential outgoings, between Powell and o'neill i am feeling comfortable we are solid enough in the hooker position.

Lesson learned anyway, don't bother reading the other site in future. Think i would rather read the facebook pages then that tripe again

What I will say is if you think that's bad - Go on the Charnley/Ratchford thread on the rumours page

And as for Powell - agree completely - of course he may only be a 7 or 8 at his best type player - but you get that 7 or 8 every week plus all the other stuff we don't see behind the scenes.
Same kind of people that criticised Tommy for the last 3 years and now he's being lauded as Legend status

Anyway - Whiffy Kipper will be along soon - He'd be better off on the other site agreeing with Medlock - They have such similar opinions you would think they were almost the same person?

Is that poster still on there who caused a bit of bother on here before getting banned, then became king of that site for a brief time - mainly through his venomous hostility to IL - before grandly 'resigning', then coming back and long-windedly 'resigning' again and again, etc?

Can't remember his name, but he really exemplified the empty-headed hatred that you describe.

Would love for us to get French over the line. Did he say something along the lines of he's glad he won something before he left? After winning the cup. Maybe I'm reading too much into it... or making up quotes.

You've been linked with Fonua reading bits and bobs online, but he'd be completely the wrong fit. Lazy and not reached the hights of 16/17. The flip side is uf anyone can sort him out it's probably Wigan
