Vaughan is trouble, Maguire *might* be a good buy. Not really bothered what Wire do, though.

Wasn’t keen on Vaughn when he was being linked with us and I’m more than happy to have Cooper rather than him. Not the kind of player you want if you are trying to improve your culture.

Maguire is a quickly declining asset but he will toughen up that powder puff pack for a couple of years but I would expect him to miss a few games with disciplinary issues. Should be a good signing for them.


I’m more interested so find out who we are targeting at centre I think our pack is sorted now but centre is now a priority given our current position and with Bibby leaving also.

Wire had a prop issue, so they went and got 5 of them to add to 2 or 3 they have on board for next season already. On one hand you admire them for going hard at trying to sort an issue but on the other hand I look at it and it seems slightly crazy to tie up 4 quota spots and a massive portion of their salary cap in one area of the field. They’re going to need to replace some of them within a couple of years as well.

It’s a huge gamble for my money but it could pay off handsomely (in the short term).

I fully expect us to make one of the old “project” signings in the outside backs for 2023.

Just think for balance the squad can cope with it.

I think it will underwhelm some as these lads usually do but he will be recruited to make in impact in 2024 and beyond depending on how he goes.

Again not a rumour or any inside knowledge just feel the squad can cope with it.

I think they’ve been as good as confirmed, both look potential good signings on paper but with Warringtons recent history you feel it could end sour for both of them. Seems a bit overkill they have signed 5 props in the last couple of weeks with 4 being quota spots, I’d love to see there numbers on paper, be interesting to see else who is leaving.

i think they have about 7-8 players out of contract at the end of the season with mix of seasoned and younger players. Cooper already gone, Charnley going/gone?, Widdop rumoured to Cas

It does look like Powell is being backed to run with his players and if the current players arent prepared to get on board with his approach, then they are off?

the big challenge for him now is to deliver a trophy / the Grand Final. if he doesnt deliver it next year, how long will the Wire board give him?
