No stresses anyway. If a player goes to Wire over Wigan at the minute, then it’s for one thing only and we’re better off without them. Hopefully he’s still a shout for 2023 but what will be will be.

I wouldn’t be too worried about anyone settling at Wire. The culture there seems to be shocking…and will only get worse IMO. Lost Hill last season, losing Ratchford potentially at the end of this - both consistent performers, both seem decent off the field role models. Can’t think of many more there who fall into that bracket.

I’m probably biased, but as a career option we’re a very easy sell at the moment. Culture factor, Wane factor, Peet factor? Plus we’re big on development.

You are right about the culture, it’s been shocking for a long time, Powell seems to identified this though and is ridding the club of who he perceives to be negative influences. Toby King since his. new contract has been shocking. Time will tell if this move will be made permanent but you’d think that would be the easiest scenario for both clubs.

There’s no better highlighter of a poor culture than the old ‘play out your skin for a new deal, get it and fall off a cliff’ scenario. We’ve had it plenty of times in the past, certainly before the Michael Maguire days in 2010. It looks to be taking Powell time to sort the club out but he’s lucky to be at a club that will allow him to rip the place apart and financially back him to put it back together.

Again you’re right with your last part the club seems to have gone all in on what Powell has seen in training and matches and reported back to the board. he is lucky that we have several wealthy backers in Middleton and Moran who seem to have all the patience in the world! next season it’s up to Powell to get a tune out of what will essentially be his squad but as I’ve seen stated on your forum many times youth is the way forward fingers crossed warrington are starting waking up to that now. I’m certainly excited about Wrench and Thewlis being rewarded with real runs in the team but we’re still lightyears behind yourselves who are the bench mark for bringing through the youth into the first team

Talking of Powell getting rid of bad influences... maybe this is one?

Had an interesting chat this afternoon to a good friend of mine who is very close to Warrington and a few other clubs due to his job.

He described Cooper as toxic on the sense he can have a huge influence over the mood within a club. If he is unhappy about something then everyone knows it and is affected by it.

He is being described as a major issue for Warrington on the way he is bringing a very negative attitude to the club mainly over the fact he is not a big fan of Powell.

I think if they could replace him now with another quality prop or get another of their signings in early he could be on his way to us before next year.

Would they want to send him to Wigan and potentially help us win the Grand Final? I doubt that personally.

Makes sense for King, gets himself in the shop window for the World Cup and at a form team. I guess for Wardle its guaranteed game time after just getting into the England team.

Hopefully just biding his time before he comes over here as Hudds know hes on the outer
