Dan the man on the other forum saying there’s a good chance Wigan get a deal done when Thompson.
I just can’t see it happening, he’s on a huuuge salary in the NRL and we don’t need a prop, sounds like Partington is likely to go but I’d say we’d need another contacted prop to move on. (I’m sure the likes of Salford/Leigh would like to take Singo from us).
French would have to leave for us to get Thompson too or Tommy to retire and not be replaced. Salary wise
All gone quiet on Wardle, I’m guessing Wire will be very happy and get him to stay.
If we keep french, sign Wardle and Thompson I will have died and gone to heaven haha
What a complete headcase 'Dan the man' is. Portraying himself as the inside man for attention on an internet forum. 'Thompson is open to a Wigan move' - how did he tell you that Dan - by phone or email?
In the real world, I'm sure most SL clubs would be interested but it depends on timing - both in relation to cap space and how many front rowers are contracted. We couldn't go after him unless someone leaves and Warrington have already made their signings in that area. Sadly I would imagine St Helens would be favourites which would be a disaster for the SL competition.

Two hours after it did the rounds on here and social media.
I’ve not commented on him for a while as it seems to upset one or two but the mans a lunatic. It’s the people who soak it up that worry me more than him.

Dan just says mildly tenuous stuff and then claims to be correct.
Thompson would be ideal for us but I cannot see it either. I’d be happy to go prop/middle heavy if it meant we could secure someone of his quality plus you would have the comfort of knowing he wouldn’t be heading to the NRL for the rest of his career.

Saints definitely offered Grace a contract. It may have been no where near Unions offer sure, but we still offered him one. Which for the sake of “what’s Saints recruitment going to be like this year” means we now have at least some cap to play with. Whether that’s to sign Thompson, a new winger, halfback cover or continuing to retain players, I have no idea.
I do know (and reiterate) we currently are not utilising the marquee rule. As I understand it Barba caused a bit of emotional scarring from it and the club is reticent to use it, though a returning player is what McManus always referenced how he would like to use the rule. It’s entirely possible it’s me in fantasy manager land (as others have said, Walmsley, Thompson, Lees and Paasi would be a sight to see as a combo) but that’s the beauty of merry-go-round season - we’re all guessing and hoping for snippets.
I'm not saying Saints didn't offer Grace a contract, but the offer was light years away from what he will now be paid in RU.

From what I have seen I would seriously debate that Dan has any inside knowledge. He regurgitates information and also makes massively vague statements that are pure guesswork. He made an educated guess that another player would sign an extension after Byrne, Havard, Faz and Powell did the other week (odds where that if those had signed we where trying to tie everyone up) and made a thread about a big statement from the club incoming (to even more hedge his bets). He also says he knows a player we have signed but won’t say, yet he opens his mouth about all these other things why would he not say?
For me the only way we sign Thompson is by getting rid of at least 2 of Partington, Singleton, Mago or Ellis and I don’t see that happening. If French doesn’t sign I feel we need to re-invest that money in the outside backs and a centre if a good one becomes available.

If Tommy retires, Zak already gone and Bibby and Partington off as rumoured, we could probably already fit Wardle and Thompson in if available. That said we would be quite prop heavy with Cooper already confirmed so perhaps we may still need to offload one.
