Rumour man says Smithies is in talks over a new deal. There’s an exclusive for you! Form loose forward in the comp, with 12 months on his deal in ‘talks’ to extend. Stop the press!!

"Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.

Hope so. I always had a horrible feeling that Leeds would come sniffing given he’s a Siddal lad. Need to nail him down as he’s brilliant. Trouble is, NRL clubs likely looking at him too. Suits their style to the ground

Aye, all jokes aside about the rumour, clearly we’re going to be talking to him and let’s hope we can tie him down to a 5 year deal. He has come on leaps and bounds this season and after losing Nicholson and McDonnell and KPP likely to follow within the next year, it’s now imperative the rest are held on to. If he tries his hand in the NRL down the track, fair enough but not yet and an exit to another Superleague club can’t be allowed to happen. I’m not sure what it is with Smithies but he seems a bit of a home bird to me, so I’m hopeful.
If we could keep French and bring in Wardle and call that our business, I think we could be extremely pleased. French can cover fullback and allow Field to cover the halves and Brad O’Neill covers Powell.
I’m pessimistic about French staying but that scenario would be fantastic. Cooper has really helped strengthen the pack and King/Wardle would go a long way to solving our centre problems.
Yep, to be honest I’d be over the moon to keep French but to have Wardle too almost seems too good to be true.
I’m happy to have King and believe a Wigan pre-season is exactly what he needs.
I’d be happy with either Wardle joining on a long deal or French staying.
If we get both I’d be ecstatic.
This is where i am at. King signing on his own is a bit... well.. 'meh' but if Wardle also signs then the King deal looks like a great piece of business. If French then decides to stay on then i might just streak around the estate. Springfield if anybody is interested but don't get your hopes up, i favver an undressed Ken doll in the buff...... nothing to see here
Some of your posters are sure it’s a done deal he signed for you, no idea what is going on at Giants but it seems odd no announcement at all about what is going to happen with him.
