Rugby League Live reporting offers from Hull FC, Catalans and Wigan are on the table for Chris Satae. Hull want to keep him but the tone of the article seemed to suggest Catalans might be his choice. I’m glad we’re interested if the report is accurate.

I love the rumours at this time of year. I’d be pretty happy with Satae and Trout if they were to come to fruition.

Perfect Mago replacement.

He would offer something different than our work rate athletic front rowers.

The dream is

Out

Singo
Cooper
Mago
Silva

In

Thompson (or front rower of that ilk)
Satae
Trout
Eseh

I'd rather keep Cooper than sign Thompson.
With the three going that NSW mentioned in Singleton, Mago & Silva my wish list would be same as most folks with Trout, Eseh & Sam Walker at Leeds who seemed at times out of favour with Smith.

Undoubtedly, but whenever we get linked with guys like this, I always wonder why we aren't we uncovering these types of players ourselves from the NRL? Or getting into them before other SL sides initially sign them?

Look at some of the names fans are banding around like Dupree, Satae, O'Donnell. If we were on the ball, we could have moved for them a lot sooner & got them in for cheaper too. I'd throw Harrison from Wire in there too as a missed opportunity.

We seem fine when it comes to backs - French, Field, Cust etc but other teams seem to just pull good forwards out of thin air. With us it seems that for every KPP there's a Mitch Clarke, Tony Clubb extension, Brad Singleton & potentially Silva (who's slipping down the pecking order).

Genuine question - Do we either not get told about them by agents, do we not scout properly or are we more risk averse when it comes to gambling on players? Either way, it's probably costing us more Vs the cap.

If you’re going to dream then dream big :) If the third marquee player is rubber stamped then that is doable. Personally, I think Cooper will go round again.

Scouting isn’t really a thing with first team players.

Youth selection obviously but generally the agents put players on the market, the coaches “scout” them and the board try to get to the financial agreement.

I know I might be in the minority but I’d be ruthless with Cooper.

12 month injury takes us to April 2024 plus he’ll need a number of weeks to get up to speed. Add that to his age and I probably wouldn’t renew his option.

I think Wigan will however.

I agree. It’s a tough call but he’s a year out and a good recovery after that realistically unlikely to fully recover till 25 and he is a declining force.

If he wants to carry on the contract offer needs to reflect that, but we do have a responsibility to look after him too, not only for him but also because of the message it sends to potential recruits in the future.

I also wouldn’t be in for Satae either. He isn’t the kind of player we need.

He may be good to watch, but so is Mago but they tend not to work in our system.

I really hope we're not chucking stupid money at Thompson, he looked a shadow of the Saints player in the World Cup, multiple concussions and now a serious leg injury, it's a nope from me.
