If it is a straight choice between Dupree and Thompson I hope we hang fire till the end of season and bring Thompson in. The rumoured 200k transfer fee can be used within the wage we can offer which could get it over the line

I’ve heard Warrington are in the mix for Thompson too.

As a Warrington fan I really hope not. IMO he's vastly overrated and that was before his injury concerns.....it is the kind of poor 'stellar' signing we'd make. I'd have credited Wigan with having more sense than signing Thompson but I suppose it's slim pickings all round.

One prop is not enough we need two.

Potentially interesting one in the fallout over McGuire is that Warrington have apparently gone 'very big' with a marquee offer for Luke Thompson. This would explain Wigan's reduced interest as they've blown them out of the water with an offer that is higher by a six figure sum per year. They have also gone very big on offers for two outside backs from the NRL, one of which is coming this season along with a forward to replace Mikeale and McGuire. Source, lad in work's mate who's mates with Danny Walker. Not the most verifiable, but would fit the profile for Warringrin.

These posts are hilarious. For those of us that actually do have sources instead of claiming we do after the event, Thompson has no intention of ever signing for Wigan.

He is staying in aus.

Is Thompson still the player he was?

We really can’t afford to get things wrong again and I’m wondering why he isn’t being snapped up by another NRL club.

Dupree would seem a safer bet but I’m open to being convinced otherwise.

Also it’s critical we look to bring someone in this season if we are to win something.

We need more firepower urgently (as was the case at the start of the season).
