I wouldn’t mind a punt on Aaron Woods, an experienced prop with good stats to replace Mago and Singleton.

I think the policy at the minute (rightly or wrongly) seems to be signing players from the NRL with something to prove and if they go back then they've obviously done a good job here as opposed to players on a possible final payday.

Whatever we do forward wise needs to work though as that's the one thing holding us back I feel.

Luke Brooks leaving Wests. I know Leeds have been linked to him previously.

Reportedly turned down Aus $500k to stay at Wests. That's about £260k, so this might be a possibility.

In theory it works but in reality you still get players here for a holiday, Cade Cust is the latest example. When he turned up I had high expectations and he looked decent, this season he doesn’t work hard for the team in defence. Jack Welsbys try after Roby made the break a good example of his attitude. Based on that I’d get rid at seasons end and I had £10 on Cust to get Man Of Steel, I was his biggest fan but he and Mago should be shipped out immediately on loan, send them to Swinton or Oldham and give them a reality check for 3 weeks.

Ha, i had £10 on Cust MOS too. I was impressed last year and really thought he would take it by storm this season but he has regressed massively. I think he thought he would come over here, walk it for a couple of seasons and go to Manly as their no. 6. The rate he is going he will be at Wakey.

I think Manly were keen to secure first option as well. This has been brought up before but it really looks like the injury in the Cup Final has damaged his confidence and power in his passing games. A few times his passing has been misdirected or fallen short (e.g. the ball to French prior to his try).

His confidence looks shot to pieces and I feel for him more than anything. He seems a genuinely top lad and I don’t think he’s the type who doesn’t care and is simply here for a holiday. He’s always been pretty poor defensively (right from his first ever competitive game for us, when he missed a simple tackle on Mickey Lewis to concede a try) but it’s got worse since his injury problems and his whole game has really suffered.

I thought at the start of this season he looked quite a bit slimmer and I was quite hopeful that he could develop quite nicely.
Agree that he looks totally lacking in confidence which is never a good place to be.
Hope the lad is ok when he gets back to Aus.
