Surely the option for Mago would have a deadline for Wigan to activate it otherwise he would not be able to discuss his future with anyone.
That deadline would likely have been May so the chances are he’s either agreed elsewhere already or we have already extended his contract but not announced it.
He was looking for a 2 year deal from Cas in July so his future hadn’t been sorted then.
I think Wigan will and are doing the right thing by letting him go.
We will already have finalised our business and I believe 1 possibly 2 forwards are joining us framing up quota spots. 1 being a prop.
The feeling is as I understand it Mago is not a Wigan prop as he is lazy. This is very frustrating as the ability is clearly there now he is playing for a contract somewhere but once he gets it I expect he will return to type.
If he had got his head down and worked hard in training I’m sure he would be getting another deal with us, but he hasn’t and despite the upturn in form I’m guessing a leopard doesn’t change its spots is an appropriate analogy.
