Interesting article regarding Mago, especially the statistics they have produced. It is interesting that Wigan has extended Miski's contract but no mention of doing so regarding Mago and Cust. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/ru ... t-27624945

I'd suggest that Mago's future was decided a while ago (before his form spurt) and all quota spots are now taken which leaves him on the outer. I wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed but if he has been able to perform like that then where has it been for the last 2 years. He started well and is ending well but the in-between bit has been poor. Too little too late. You play for Wigan, you don't need any encouragement to perform.

Mago's fun to watch when he's playing well and I think that sways opinions when he has a good spell (including my own). The coaching staff understandably won't be bothered about that - I'm sure they'll be thinking we can get someone who is effective over a longer period and more well-rounded. Clearly Mago isn't the best defender.

If anything we would have too many players if we fill the two remaining overseas spots with forwards. An experienced second rower would be good but after that I'm not sure there's another spot to fill in the pack. You could make an argument for some more competition in the backline if Thornley and Hampshire move on.

I fully agree, our recruitment has meant that Mago and Cust have no future at Wigan.

Mago and Cust are an example of how taking Super League lightly can massively backfire on your career. I reckon they came over (classing it as a backward step) with the intention of costing through for a coupe of seasons with little effort and getting a good deal back in Australia. Now they have zero chance of a contract in the NRL they either have to stay over here and take another backward step or go back and play reserve grade.

From reports Cust really threw himself into it and is well liked, it seems the injury really affected his game unfortunately, he also made plenty of noises that he wanted to stay on with Wigan from quite an early stage, Mago I agree but people are now saying he’s finally injury free but I think no smoke without fire in regards to rumours of him not training well.
