Some Salford fan said to me and I quote "You are by far and away the most Handsome & Knowledgeable Rugby League Fan in England!"

I thanked him and went on my Merry way!

From Nathan Brown? I fail to see what that as to do with whether MM will or won't honour his contract?

The same NRL coaching system that if it wanted him 12/18 months ago he either chose to ignore or they didn't want him, now, according to Paper speculation, wants him back?
:ASK:

I wouldn't worry too much though, Being a 1 x season flash in the pan coaching sensation and like the rest of us Wiganners I'm sure once we retreat back to our rightful position of mid table mediacrity no-one will want him anyway?
Plus, if he can only coach Wigan to tackle/defend by getting too many numbers into the tackle and slowing the PTB down then surely the NRL clubs won't want him due to their Super Speed PTB's and 2 x referee system that Works so fantastically it would negate any of MM's Defensive Boring coaching skills?

As for the Harlem globe trotter team of the 80's, That's a bad statement on many counts.
a/ We weren't a Harlem Gobe Trotter style team at any point in the 80's, in fact we were more like an organised Machine. If we did have an element of Basketball style about us it was certainly in the mid 90's just before our decline IMO.
b/ If anyone thinks that the Majority of Wigan fans want to see "Basketball style" Rugby League I would Disagree. Wigan fans (In general I believe IMO) want to see "Contructive, organised, disciplined,Rugby League" not Basketball anything.
This leads me to this "Slowing the PTB" rubbish that's been spouted for the last 3/6 months in some qtrs. I found the Speeding up of the PTB throughout the late 90's early/mid 00's more tedious by the season.
Scooting Dummy Halves and 1 dimensional straight up and down forwards taking advantage of Big 10mtrs and defences that weren't given time to apply sound defensive techniques was IMO doing our game, IMO, no good at all.
Attacking teams were incorrectly Playing the Ball by just throwing it back, not regaining their feet, stepping over defenders to play the ball 2 yards in front of where they were actually tackled and throwing themselves to the floor everytime a defender so much as had a finger on them and for about 5 seasons It was my opinion that I would have penalised the player in posession more often than the defenders!

My opinion is that for the last 2 seasons we've started to get a good equal contest between attack and defence and that's how it should be. Has the number of points per game decreased? Number of tries per game decreased?

As for your statement about "i base my opinion on knowing how massive the nrl is and how super league as much as i love it is second best by a long way, especially in the eyes of the aussies. its like comparing the epl and spl. if you cant see that then you are helpless."

I ask 1 more question, What the hell as that got to do with anything? Who said it wasn't, certainly not me! Not sure why you've brought that into the conversation about whether Maguire will or won't see out his contract based on what you openly admitted was "Your Opinion" after stating it as fact 24 hours earlier and anyone who didn't believe you was Deluded!
Thanks for clearing that up! :thumb: :USTUPID:

ive said any coach offered a top nrl job would take it. thats an opinion, but one anyone who can put down their club bias could agree with.

the pie globe trotter rugby was never more on show for me with hanley running side ways quicker than the halifax cover could run after him after wigan going the length of the field

How do we know if MM has already been offered a job in NRL? He may very well have already turned a job down over there...

Yet when you disagree what others say on here thats not arguing? Why you seem desperate for us all to believe you that Maguire will walk away if he has the chance could be deemed as desperation by some, as the only way you can think of Wigans current success not continuing

Totally hypothetical point, as i have no inside knowledge about wages like some claim to on these boards. Australian coach in ESL is offered Nrl job, English club chairman offers him twice the money to stay here. Suddenly the Nrl is not as much as an attractive option???

i couldnt give a rats ar$e if you read, listen or acknowlege my opinion. if anyone thinks madge would turn an nrl head coach job down to stay at wigan they are mad, deluded or mad and deluded

Doesn't seem like your leaving much room for discussion doeas it? Yet your the one saying "you just want to argue not talk rugby thats your problem"!

If I don't agree with you I'm Mad or Deluded but If I do then I'm agreeing with on what in your own words is "Pure speculation"!

FWIW

I think Maguire will see out his contract and then go back to a job in the NRL.

I also don't think that anyone who disagrees with me is Mad or Deluded.

Now that is the start of a rugby discussion, do you agree?

Do you not realise how desperate you sound?

Dummy spitting over something like this?

At the end of the day, Maguire may go back a year early, or he may not. Either way, it will make no difference to the revelation experienced by many Leeds fans (not to mention the Leeds chairman and his various obnoxious camp followers) in 2010 - namely that they weren't as good as they thought they were.

Here's a tip - yearning for things to go wrong at Wigan will not be as effective a solution to your problems as trying to get things to go right at Leeds. And if you're a genuine Leeds fan, you'll pass that advice to Gary Hetherington, because he needs it as much as you do.

You are not being honest at all but are just being very simplistic and assuming "if any coach in sl was offered a top nrl gig they would take it". Based on what evidence?

If you look for the empirical evidence of what coaches actually do you will find the vast majority fulfil their contracts for the full term unless sacked. Rarely do they leave early.

What you are failing to take into account is the attitude and character of the coach. You assume it is a forgone conclusion any coach would walk out on a contract mid way through because an offer from the NRL was on the table and they would not consider honouring their contract for one second. Has it not crossed your mind a coach may like to be seen to honour is contract rather then adopt such a mercenary attitude?

I have no doubt Maguire will return to Oz and coach in the NRL and probably at the end of his current deal here. If he is as successful over the next two season as he was last he would be mad to not move on at the end of his contract rather than wait until things might not be so great. In the meantime I do not think I am being the slightest bit delusional to think he will see his contract out.
