A Pie is for life, not just a Wembley Final

Isn't the problem that if you have such an event, the fixtures will have to be planned a long time in advance? What with travel etc for fans of Cats and London for instance?

not hard to do, as long as you state well in advance what day London and Cats are going to play ( they both play same day just in case they are 1v2 or 3v4 etc.etc.) As long as the fans who travel the furthest know the day they are playing the opposition is irrelevant. If it is planned right you could have round 13. that decides the fixtures then for the magic event...... then you have 1/4's of the challenge cup followed by a weekend fixture of the Exiles match.

That gives everyone else apart from lon/cats 3 weeks to prepare for travel etc......which is a week more that we get for CC matches.

It's been fun.

For the 1v2 format you play every team once that's week 13 in theory, that then is the team selection, then you play week 14 and even though the positions might change in that week it's immaterial, then a week after week 14 you have the magic weekend. That gives you a fortnight to plan which day you get off work or whatever.

You state at the beginning of the season which matches will be on which day eg Saturday 3v4, 13v14 & 5v6

Job done
fairer and more intense and a truer reflection of who should top the table.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning – WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

If Wire pip you by a point for the hubcap this season that will be courtesty of the Magic Weekend. The dog shagger's five tries could have been scored by anyone who could hold onto a ball long enough as Ah Van wasn't arsed - sorry injured!

One year the RFL did infact make it a contest when (was it 2009?) we played Catalans. I think, based on where the teams finished in 2008, first played second, third played fourth etc. If for the next two years the "derby" format continues, then Wire have a distinct advantage.

Personally, I would abandon this RFL money spinner and have a 26 game season and leave the weekend free for the Exiles game.

Waiting for the 2021 RLWC

I do find it amusing how Warrington fans are so desperate to have a proper derby match. Historically they have always been a rather small club with no real fanbase as such. However now after a few decent seasons when they are finally begining to attract some decent crowds they now want to mix it with the big clubs. Its quite sweet really.

I find it amusing that Pie fans will find anything they can to be patronising about when it comes to Warrington. 'Historically' Warrington have been one of the best supported clubs in the history of the RFL, unless you think history started in 1980.

It's been fun.

An extra to your point Asgardian, which 2 teams hold the record for biggest attendance in an RL game?

When I started to support Wigan in 1945, The Wigan v Warrington game was always the one most eagerly contested and looked forward to. Saints were "also runs" until about 1951

It seems to me that your forgetting you won all your trophies when you were a professional outfit and everyone else was WORKING 5 days a week and playing Rugby. We had Cullen for which i am truly grateful for keeping us up.But now we have a top coach and rebuilt a top team which can compete against top teams.hence 2 challenge cups and league leaders shield, not bad in 3 years. how long did it take you to build before you won anything..... :ROCKS:
