Problem here is that we are all making assumptions when the club haven't as yet shown all their hand for 2023 when it comes to the comings and goings.
KR has previously stated that the club conducts all its recruitment business in July. The club has been exceedingly quiet on that front this year, perhaps the ongoing French saga has delayed things?
We know the club normally likes to wrap its movements up in a package communication over one day (especially if a star player is on the way out and new signings are announced to reduce supporter disappointment).
No mentions as yet on French, Bibby, Tommy L futures as yet suggests similar will happen shortly.
I do have to say this also, at the risk of ire from the Wire lot. They wanted King out and have for ages because he was a problem, just as Cooper was, just as Briers was. Here is the difference. When we take personnel from Warrington it's because we can use them. When Warrington take players from us it's because they are desperate and we don't want them (Nicholson excluded) Cooper has come in and started like only Mike Cooper can, he is just a fantastic forward who is miles better than anything Warrington have at the moment and miles better than anyone they have signed to replace him. They wanted rid of Briers who has come in here after 3 utterly appalling seasons under Lam and completely transformed out attack in 1 pre-season (he Will be badly missed) and now we have taken King, if Peet thinks he can eek out more in him then he probably will.
I find it funny that Powell has gone into Warrington and all of a sudden there are a load of bad eggs. Funnily enough all the local lads. King and Cooper would have come here, Seen Matty Peet who has won a major trophy in his maiden season, Shaun Wane would have been there, the halls decked with silverware and honours and the whole place screams of serial winners. Powell and Sheridan are serial losers, the historical standards at Wigan should get the maximum out of any player.

Agree with all this. Somebody mentioned it to me on the Wire board last week and i said i think there is a good player in there but i wouldn't want him here but................. if he comes with Wardle (and iv'e noted your confidence that is a done deal) im more than happy with that. Wardle and King is better than Wardle and Isa. If our coaching staff can't get anything out of King, we lose nothing and he goes back to Warrington. If he wants to be a winner then he has to kuckle down. I am also happy that we will be seemingly phasing KPP out if he is leaving anyway. Why should we improve players for nowt so that Newcastle knights can come and just take them fully developed. Have a feeling KPP will be let go early. Please, please, please just tie French down. that would do me. If 2 centres and French re-signing is all we do i will be happy.
I can get onboard, or at least see your perspective, as it's reasonable and rational. Like you said there's no right, or wrong opinion. I'd actually have preferred him on a proper deal Vs a loan, but your OP raised valid arguments as to why that ain't possible, or the best option.
Btw, as it's on the same kinda subject and one to highlight the wider issue I was making... i've just read the other sites opinions on the signing. I'm not the biggest fan of King, but hopefully I've put forward reasons as to why I think what I do. On there it's just baseless stuff like "on the cheap", or "not Wigan standard" without any rationale behind those opinions. That's what gets at me.
Just said on a WhatsApp to another poster on here that the other boards response (75% of it) to this is just the usual glass half full, blame the club, blame IL,blame Sam Powell, we know better based on hypothetical assumptions and very little evidence or fact Rubbish I also said I don't know why I do it to myself!
I went over thinking that maybe, just maybe, there may be some positivity- How wrong I was!
Let’s not forget how good King has been up until recently at Wire, and is playing well at Hudds.
If Powell gets binned next year I’ve no doubt King will be back at Wire in 24 to see out his contract.
I think this is a fantastic signing personally unless things have changed in the last week or so Wardle and King are our starting centres for next season.
That is a huge improvement on anything we have had for a long time.
It’s all well and good saying we could let him stay at Wire to eat up their cap but there would be others coming in for him so that would never happen.
He is a top notch young British centre.
Only downside for me is it probably means one of Bevan or KPP possibly both will be in the NRL in 23. I just can’t see how we can manage all those players under the cap unless we have got King for an absolute steal.
Assuming Wardle signs, and I know you are 100% confident of that, who plays right centre given they both play on the left?

All King`s salary for 2023 will be imposed on Wigan`s Salary Cap, not Warrington`s, even though Warrington will probably be making a significant contribution.
My only worry with King is that I’ve only seen his very best consistently when he wanted a new deal at Wire or a good deal elsewhere. There have been other flashes here and there but it was that season in 2021 that showed what he’s capable of but also asked questions as to why he’d not hit that level before.
On the upside, there’s clearly a really good centre there when motivated and hopefully he will be just that at a new club.
John, can i ask you (without you disclosing your source) as to why you are so confident Wardle has signed. Iv'e never seen you so confident that a player has signed for us before but you seem adamant.
