So, WHO would you have signed? It's a fairly simple question.. :)

I honestly don't know who was or wasn't available.

With the amount of space we had available I'd like to think there must have been a potential goal kicker somewhere.

Even if that meant signing a lesser player who could kick goals then so be it. It's that important to have a consistent goal kicker in your side.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

A kicker is important, of course... But if there are none of suitable quality available, should we just sign anyone? It's all very well being critical, but if there were no options........................................

A kicker is worth his weight in gold. It turns a distinctly average player like a foster into someone people consider.

We have some average players in our squad who are getting game time like Thornley and Clubb. We could easily have signed a similar average player who can kick.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the value of a kicker, especially with out current style... Who might have been your choice...

I don't think the club deserve criticism for our recruitment, keeping in mind it was a double winning team the year before.

I'm convinced Pettybourne for Mossop will turn out fine - there's enough good signs there. Bowen has started poorly but its very early. Even if he doesn't improve you could hardly question the logic of signing him. With the amount of good young wingers we have, Wane rightly made the decision to let them fight it out for Pat's spot.

Add to that three great prospects in Bateman, Hopkins and Sarginson and we did very well.

Clubb for Hansen was the only disappointment for me.

The notion of signing a player purely for his goalkicking ability is ludicrous. Pat looked about the same standard as Smith when he first started - look how he turned out.

Danny Tickle for example is better than Tony Club for the simple reason he's a goal kicker. We also paid cash for TC which is crazy

Sammut could have made our side as well from the bench.

Craig Hall or Kirk Dixon are both better than Thornley because they can kick goals.

It's simple you need a goal kicker and we don't have one and it will cost us.

Sammut ain't a great goalkicker and Tickle burnt his bridges at Wigan a long while ago. As for Dixon or Craig Hall they wouldn't get near our first teams regardless of kicking ability.

The only top player and top goalkicker I can think of that a superleague club has signed is Luke Walsh and we didn't need a halfback.

Smith needs time to get used to being first choice. His technique looks fine but it's now just about dealing with that pressure. Guys like Jamie Lyon, Sculthorpe and Sinfield all looked pretty average when they were first starting off until they got in to that mode of kicking under match pressure.

I'm disappointed with our lack of quality. Too many of the guys we've brought in have question marks hanging over them. I'm always happy to see us role the dice with a few guys like Sarginson or Eddy as that's how you discover a Carmont.

Sadly however we overdid it this time. We've lost proven top class players who would walk into any SL side like Pat, Sam, Mossop and HH and replaced them with IF or COULD BE type players

What ever happened to just buying proven SL class?

With respect, your post again seems to simply be a bit of a moan without any logical thought.

Who are the top class SL players that we should have brought in to replace the outgoing players? Again thinking logically, who was realistically available?
