Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.
I'm not comparing the anouncement with respect to the calibre of each player, but more a lot of the Wigan fans' attitude towards one of our players signing a long-term deal compared to a player from another club. I agree Leeds have been excellent at keeping hold of their players, but when the likes of Peacock, Sinfield, McGuire, Burrow, JJB etc. were at an age where the NRL clubs may have been looking at them, the cards weren't stacked as high in the NRL's favour as they are now. It'll be more interesting to see what happens when offers for the likes of Hardaker and Watkins come in. How do we know Leeds haven't just tied down Hall so they can demand a fee if the NRL come calling?
It was widely reported that NRL clubs were chasing Watkins this time last year, here's an example and every man and his dog seemed to be claiming he would be leaving, yet he came out and rubbished these suggestions and now you don't really hear anything. It would be great to see the same happen with Charnley

I'm not saying I necessarily believe that, and I think there is every chance that he may be off at the end of the season. With the way the NRL SC is compared to SL there is going to be more and more players leaving SL for the NRL, but it isn't just Wigan players.
If a player has a desire to play in the NRL and they have the opportunity to go, there is little any SL club can do about it. Perhaps Hall has no desire to move across the world, as it appears Roby doesn't. It's not that the players of these clubs are doing anything to keep them that Wigan aren't, they just don't want to go.
The NRL is currently seen as the pinnacle of the club game, and players can be criticised for not taking on the challenge, like players have been in the past who've stayed with 'lesser' SL clubs rather than moving to a club where they will compete for trophies. Sam Tomkins won pretty much every accolade in the game over here and his record speaks for itself, yet the terms 'unproven' and 'rookie' were consistently used whenever he was linked with the NRL, and now after 2 games there is plenty of talk of whether or not he is 'NRL standard', can you really blame a professional sportsman for wanting to move to prove themself amongst the best?

Of course I don't blame them. I just want to be sure that the club is doing everything possible to retain these guys. If Leeds have a system that enables them to keep their best then we should be looking to emulate it, unless the transfer fee money we make is more useful to us than the player

So, been reading a few stories about Bromwich re-signing for storm. A few murmurs from their fans were suggesting Ryan Hoffman is looking at a return to super league to finish, and Wigan was the likely destination. Given the apparent issue you guys see at second row, it would seem a sensible move by all.
(I take no responsibility for the quality of said rumour, merely I've read it and passed it on )

No chance he is miles away from finishing his career and is in the top 5 best players for Melbourne.

Hoffman is 30 now and only he knows how his body feels. Maybe he is looking for a return to SL and hopefully Wigan. Would any Wigan fan not want him back here playing 2nd row? We will have the salary space available as well as a quota spot. I'd have him back in an instant!
There was talk of Green being chased by Melbourne in the off season. Offer them a swap deal and move either Hampshire or Sarginson in to 6?
Pipe dream in reality and I am a fan of Green but it would improve us overall. If he ever does fancy coming back in the future I'd love to see it happen.

He's off contract at the end of the year to my knowledge, and Melbourne are apparently struggling to rearrange their cap with Smith being a million dollar player (it never bothered them in the past so I have no idea why it would now ) - sounds like Hoffman is going to be a victim of the salary cap (again), so no swap deal is needed as far as I'm aware. (Again just passing on what I've read so take no responsibility!)
