I wonder if the wife's are happy about that particular excuse coming out. It make it look like he has visions of becoming a Wigan legend if it was not for her indoors.

Mind you if there nearest and dearest has managed to secure a wage increase i doubt they would be to bothered.

Got to disagree there.

Lima is currently our senior prop at the relatively young age of 30. That leaves Lauaki (28), Prescott (26), Mossop (23) as our most senior front rowers.

All are capable but with the young lads being pretty much 20 years old (at a guess) then our average age is to low.

We need an old head in there to lead the way.

I am not for a second saying that these guys are not capable of smashing the packs of every SL team going. whether they could do that week in, week out whilst not having properly physically matured. I am not to sure.

Not a rumour and not sure if it's already been mentioned, but Russel staying another month at Hull, goo move allround.

I hear he is really enjoying it at Hull, if Finch does stay, I think Hull might put a bid in and he may be tempted to get First Team rugby. he is too good for the under 20's IMO.

Maybe a season long loan.

I think he's a big player for Wigan in the future "if" Sam leaves for pastures new in 3 years time he will be nailed on for the full back position. So I think it's a great deal for us and Hull, great opportunity for him to develop like Charnley did at KR.

I think Tommy is nigh on irreplaceable at the moment for what he offers to the team with his all round game. Certainly having been used to his aggressive defence some of the names for replacements fill me with dread, i.e Brough, Smith and Soward.

Would still be chuffed if he signed, but i would prefer the (tenuously) linked combo of Gaskell / Soward.

Signing Soward would be a master stroke. Granted he might only be here a short while, but DB does not have a great track record when it comes to sticking with the same club. From memory the clubs he has left have never given the impression that he would be missed. Might say a lot about his relationships within the clubs.

Does not have a great track record sticking with international teams either.

In this case I dont know if this is true or not but it is always an easy excuse for overseas players to use. Lima will be a loss without doubt but if he wants to go then there is no point forcing him to stay.

If we need an "old head" then we still have Fielden on the books.
Two year's rest and I'm sure would be open to an offer of a new contract.
I would also trust IL to come up with the right deal for the club and Stu if the coaching and management together think that's one option to keep open.

Matty Smith told his team-mates at the weekend he's to sign for Wigan. Kev Brown was ready to sign but was blown away by the Widnes money over four years. He's had an option in his last contract that he could move back over the hill for a set amount of compensation, which Wigan and Widnes were both willing to pay.
