Apart from the fact that Finch isn't fit to lace Greg's boots and Crompton isn't as good as Smith. I get your general point though

It looks like Smith is a done deal, we need a strong top class 6 outside him and as such I would hope the Soward rumours are true if Finch is on his way.

Do not want Chase at Wigan, he has been found out this year and is no longer the novelty act he was.

If Smith is a done deal, in my opinion we now need to look for an experienced Prop, an experienced 6 as a priority. I would also not be against us looking as a proven centre.


All 3 of those targets in my opinion would need to come from the NRL (and I continue to hear 2 names mentioned at Prop in Asotasi and Moi Moi) so I am not sure if we could recruit 3 quota players.

Yep, the league leader in assists and still ripping teams to shreds is clearly showing he's been "found out"

MEN have took a Dave Parker rumour as a fact though and sensationalised Cas getting rid of 12 players in the off-season as players not being happy.

Still, if Wigan want to stump up the ~600k it would cost to buy out his contract, go for it

That is £400.00 grand less than you lot reckoned he was worth only 5 months ago.

Well that would be if you just buy out his contract, the club would probably want more on top of that too.

People need to give him a chance. Smith is not as good as Tommy no, but who is who is realistically available? Smith will be on a fraction of Leulaui's wage also. If we sign Soward or keep Finch (not gonna happen) we have a top quality halfback with a decent half back alongside him in Smith, both with strong kicking games. The lower wage will also free up more cap to offer 1) More to Soward in competition with other clubs' offers 2) More available for a quality prop/centre 3) Improve the contracts of kids who deserve it to prevent them leaving e.g. Russell, Powell etc. The utility factor of Smith is also a bonus and you gotta take into account that he has never played behind a pack as strong as ours before. With our pack, that partnership could really flourish as TL and BF have this year. In Wane I trust

He'll do a job, has a decent boot, defends well enough. If you put him with a decent 6, the team will function well enough.

Rangi Chase would command a buy out fee of at least 500k, Unfortunately for Cas, there isn't just yourselves interested. Hull Fc are also sniffing around.

Meanwhile Warrington had an approach for Daz Clark refused.
