Why dont you just say I have been told he is wanted at Souths? Just like the wife, you go all around the houses trying to drop hints Needs to have a free run of injuries for me, good player bags of potential but picks up too many injuries to have a sustained run, plenty time on his side yet tho. No idea what his contract terms are but I am sure there are people who know, such as former coaches

So do I. He certainly wont be cheap as you have to pay a premium for good half backs, especially young English ones, but I like what he offers and he will certainly give us continuity and stability going forward.

The shine is really rubbing off Mr Maguire. Excellent first season, dodgy second season (didn't bring any kids through and flogged the starting 17). Then he takes Lima and is now targeting Mossop? F' off.

Are you being serious with that one?

A hub cap and SL title win plus a 2nd place league finish with a CC victory?

I guess Charnley never broke into the side last year either?

There isn't really anyone else who realistically could have made a debut.

Don't forget last year's side had Fielden, Coley, Tomkins, Deacon Hoffman as well. Which kids could have done better than them?

People said the same about Leuluai when we signed him from London. It depends on how you look at it. I take the term "project" more as Wane looking at putting a long-term half-back partnership together as it looks like we'll be starting from scratch there next season, unless Mellor or Powell steps up and makes the grade, so whoever comes in will have to learn the structures and systems we have in place. It's probably Wane trying to lower expectations as much as anything else as it will be impossible for us to continue to play at the level we currently are next year if we're going with a brand new pair of halves, at least in the early rounds

And in every position they played we are at least the same, and in the majority of cases stronger in, than last year.

It was in response to the OP saying Madge didn't give kids a chance.

How could and why would he say give guys like Hughes, Spencer or Crosby a go when he had other senior options?

Let's not forget plenty of these kids are only just now ready for SL.

Wane saying Smith is a "project" is just playing with words.
He is looking to Smith to improve his game as every player has this season.
Smith is often reluctent to take on the line. He won't be allowed to get away with that at Wigan with Wane and Harris, who no doubt is the half back coach.

We have an exceptional coaching team at Wigan with Waney setting the standards and Harris providing the technical know how.
None of us need reminding how good Harris was at breaking the line of defence. Now he's our coach look how Wigan are now breaking the opposition's line of defence. Led by the half backs and carried through by the whole seven of the back division. Smith will be required to continue this type of play.
And who is the improvement in our kicking game down to? Wane, or Harris and Deacs. No need to answer BTW.
Our forwards are killing them atm and our backs ripping them apart.
This improvement is down to every player playing better then they did last year.
That is down to the coaching team with Wane, Harris etc.
Tommy will be missed but Smith will slot in just fine.
