I was told on Friday that Hull KR had signed Goulding, Hull FC had signed Taylor and that Dudson was off at the end of the season as well. If Green doesn't extend his contract then thats another large turnover of players again in the off season.

Losing Dudson, Goulding and possibly even Green is understandable squad management (although looking at the past two weeks I'd want to keep Green).

Losing lads like Taylor and Hampshire simply isn't good enough though if it happens. If they were packing their bags and heading to the NRL or Union you could understand it but Hull and Saints?! Never!

Wigan trying to hijack saints bid for Vea from London. He agreed terns with saints two week a go but hadn't put pen to paper but Wigan have now beat saints offer.

Maybe that's because we could be losing Taylor and Dudson with James going into coaching. Greenwood will probably return but I'm sure SW will feel we will need a more experienced front rower than him and Sutton provide as good as they are.
Possibly end up with a sort of bidding process for the lad.
If rumours are true that Green and Goulding maybe off elsewhere then the club will have plenty SC room to offer a good deal to a player they now want!

I hope this is true, out of any forwards likely to be available Vea was the one that caught my eye. Vea and Tautai in the same pack gives us all the punch we would need. If we can't get Vea we need to be looking at the NRL to strengthen the pack with natural size and power that it lacks at times.

apparently David Hala from the Brisbane Broncos is playing for peanuts next season if he signs his new contract, now that is one Goliath we should be looking at.

No matter who is leaving, we can always console ourselves with the thought that Richard Agar is not joining our coaching team.

Re: Rumours and signings v9 : Tue Jun 10, 2014 7:39 pm
Looking at recruitment for next year, with Blake Green leaving for the Storm I would definitely seek to keep Matty Bowen for another year with Williams/Powell/Hampshire fighting it out for the number six spot. Some big shoes to fill. Blake Green has gone under the radar I feel a bit at Wigan - he's an exceptional player and a pivitol player - Melbourne would not have signed him otherwise.

Losing Goulding is a tricky one. I still believe Daz is the best centre at the club although he has been out of form as of late. How much of that is down to injury I'm not sure. Thornley will probably keep the number 4 shirt. Gelling is making a claim for the other centre spot. Sarginson is very shakey defensively still - I can't weigh up where his best position is at the moment. Possibly fullback.

I feel we can just about cope losing Goulding and Green.

I wont lose any sleep if Dudson leaves (as is rumoured), but I will if Scott Taylor leaves as well and we re-sign Jordan James. That is simply horrendous business. Tautai to replace Dudson and have James Greenwood back from London with Ryan Sutton competing for Jordan James' spot is excellent business, providing we keep hold of Scott Taylor. It is very simple for me - Scott Taylor leaves then we need a top class (not project player) replacement.

Rumours about us hijacking Saints for Vea from London suggests the writing is on the wall for Taylor...

Goulding is certainly the most natural centre we have IMO. His firm has been poor but that may be down to a potential move away playing on his mind. I watched both Gelling and Sarginson closely on Saturday and neither are natural centres. They both love to run the ball but they have no natural instincts to make room for their winger and that is a big portion of a centres job. I'd say at this minute in time Gelling is the better centre of the two and could get there but I'd be tempted to bulk him up and put him in the second row. As for Sarginson I'd say he's a fullback/winger and unless he learns to play with his head up more in tight situations he'll remain that.

I fully agree about Taylor. To lose him leaves our front row looking painfully short IMO and we'd have to go out and throw some cash at a top class replacement. I don't think Tautai or Vea would be that man, they're both impact players who are more comfortable in the back row. We'd need a big, aggressive out and out prop to come in and replace him. If Ashton Sims is coming over here he'd be worth a look but we'd need to possibly put up with him being suspended a few games a season as he's nuts!

and how to pass the ball, the art of being a good centre is about making the space for you or the wing.

Lock him in a room with videos of Carmont for a couple of weeks. What we'd give to have him back now....
