As much as I rate Green as a player did we make a strategic error when signing him? We really could have done with someone on a 3 year deal just to see the full development of the junior players.
If Green was always going to be here for 2 years which we knew when we signed him I feel in hindsight we made an error.
Hindsight is of course a wonderful thing to take advantage of.
I do feel now though we need to sign a half but not many quality players will come on a 1 year deal so we may be having to offer 2 years. Burns fits the bill in relation to style and age.
Greens 2 years isn't up for 8 months. thats when we were planning to introduce a new player into the team and them have a full season before the important games come in. so why make a judgement about the young lads 15 months before we are really planning on them being up to it?
in 15 months time one of them might be playing absolutely brilliant rugby.
The same was being said about Richards last year. people were shouting others down who suggested Burgess should get a go. A season is a long time, and wigan are always going to be in & around the play offs come the end of the season. So a younger lad has got until the play offs to learn his trade.
