On the south coast with a load of retired folk. Makes me feel young.

Would Leon Pryce be worth a contract?

I've always been a fan of Leon. At 32 he is still performing, a 1 year deal would interest me to further aid the development of Powell, Williams and Hampshire but I don't think Wigan will be interested.

I don't think we need anyone but if we do I certainly like the sound if Burns more then Pryce.

Pryce has lost his major weapon which was pace. He's not the best passer or kicker and the pressure would be on at Wigan due to his past. He'd be way down my list of potential signings.

As much as I rate Green as a player did we make a strategic error when signing him? We really could have done with someone on a 3 year deal just to see the full development of the junior players.

If Green was always going to be here for 2 years which we knew when we signed him I feel in hindsight we made an error.

Hindsight is of course a wonderful thing to take advantage of.

I do feel now though we need to sign a half but not many quality players will come on a 1 year deal so we may be having to offer 2 years. Burns fits the bill in relation to style and age.

I don't think you can put an exact amount of years in when you think your young players will have developed enough to be first team ready tbh so I don't think we can say for sure that a two year deal was a mistake. If we look at somebody like Sam Powell he must be around 21-22 which whilst young us the sort of age you'd expect a lad to be nailing down a first team spot. I think he'll be fine as well tbh and will do a good job there next year.

We're also in a lucky position that we have three lads rather then one fighting to take Greens shirt. They will hopefully all push each other on and challenge for the spot.

That would make Wigan strong favourites then. With Ratchford at FB and Patton with Cronk in the halves, I think we'll do very well without Sam.

Greens 2 years isn't up for 8 months. thats when we were planning to introduce a new player into the team and them have a full season before the important games come in. so why make a judgement about the young lads 15 months before we are really planning on them being up to it?

in 15 months time one of them might be playing absolutely brilliant rugby.

The same was being said about Richards last year. people were shouting others down who suggested Burgess should get a go. A season is a long time, and wigan are always going to be in & around the play offs come the end of the season. So a younger lad has got until the play offs to learn his trade.

"Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.

Pryce when we have Powell, Hampshire and Williams?
That would be as bad as the Catalans signing Brent Webb when they already had Morgan Escare.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

I agree. Pryce has also looked a shadow of the player that he was for a number of seasons now and to me isnt a proper 6 anyway. He is still very lazy and drifts in and out of games even more than he did before.
