Dr Sarah Gilbert who invented the Astra Zeneca vaccine saying the only people who should have boosters are the immune supressed and elderly. However you will be getting your booster because Sajid Javid (Banker) decided to booster you. This is regardless of prior infection, level of antibodies or T cell memory which if we go off SARS-COV-1 or SARS which is 80% similar to covid, those infected 17 years ago still have T cells to fight it off and don't need to be jabbed every year.
Now with Omicron being like a cold we are rolling out the booster to everyone? And the boosted seem to not want to be the only ones boosted for some reason so are cajoling everyone else into getting boosted.
We would be better off having zinc and vitimin D, exersizing, not eating glucose/fructose syrup or sweeteners which stop us from absorbing vitimin D and the only people getting the booster should be the immune supressed and over 65s AFTER they have been checked for antibodies. But antibodies aren't the bodies only defence and a lack of antibodies doesn't mean you haven't had it or aren't protected, we have T cells which are far superior. But it would cost far too much to send everyone for a T cell and antibody check so they just roll out the booster, by order of an ex banker in a corrupt party that wont follow the rules.
If you cannot see the BS you are naive, misinformed or guillable.
For the record, I dont do facebook, I don't get my medical advicr from Julie from facebook who thinks Bill Gates is watching us. I take Zinc and Vit D, I'm healthy, I run 3 times a week, I've had 2 x AZ, I take precautions eg FFP3 mask in public and last week I did an antibodies test and I have antibodies.
So on that basis, do I take the advice of the Dr who invented the vaccine or a politician?
That top link by Sarah Gilbert is three months old.
Gilbert said the new variant contained mutations already known to increase transmissibility of the virus and that antibodies induced by vaccination or previous infections might be less effective at preventing infection with Omicron. But she also said reduced protection against infection “does not necessarily mean reduced protection against severe disease and death”. Gilbert added: “Until we know more, we should be cautious, and take steps to slow down the spread of this new variant.”
By the way, looks like the "Oxford" jab that most adults over thirty in the UK have had two of seems to be the worst performer of protection of them all by some distance whether against Delta or Omicron. So in our rush to ensure the "British people had British jabs" we now may be at a disadvantage. Luckily Pfizer came in with their booster to save the day. Maybe Sarah should keep her head down for a bit.

2 months plus before the omicron variant - As the vaccine was holding up well to the original stains etc. At that time she also said boosters were not as much as a priority as was getting the 1st shot into millions of peoples arms who hadn't had any vaccine across the world
Recent article Dame Sarah Gilbert advices people to get the booster
Dame Sarah Gilbert has most recently said that everyone who qualifies should get the booster jab.

Beat me to it As an earlier poster said, people wanting to find evidence to the Answrr they've already decided.
I wouldn't say she should keep her head down though Matty ? Think that is a very harsh summation given the Context

The Pfizer booster has helped
By the time we'd had our 2nd AZ jab the vast majority of other countries (if not all) had dropped it as an option due to blood clot worries. The UK did a u-turn by refusing to administer AZ to under 30's.
Even now for adults with 1st and 2nd jabs AZ is not being offered out in the UK.
Must be warehouses of the stuff left cause they ordered tens of millions. Might as well give it away under the covax scheme.
The best thing I recently saw from a top virologist about vaccines was the below (wish I had saved a link to it now), but in essence it was that the three shots we have received aren't just three of the same:
Vaccine 1 is a bit like having primary school education. It gives you the building blocks in the fight against Covid.
Vaccine 2 compares to secondary school, a slightly more effective shot building on from the first thus giving some extra protection.
Booster shot was like University and is by far the strongest and best vaccine to be very effective against delta (90%+) and reasonably effective against Omicron (70%+).
Will try find said link.
and that is the trouble......we have a lot of uneducated people in this country, who prefer to take their 'facts' from 'Barry' on twitter rather than experts, (who have legitimate qualifications, over and above the secondary school level.)
Using your analogy, it may be fine to say I’m not going to educate myself beyond secondary school level as I don’t want to become a dentist (or other role you need higher qualifications for), but when it’s your health, surely you do the best possible, not merely the adequate?
The ‘I cant be bothered with the hassle’ and ‘I’ve been vaxxed twice, cant be doing with it any more….’ Seems very alien to me…..did you never have a second interview for a job? …stop at two driving lessons? Two visits to the dentist?
At the end of the day, the choice is yours, and I don’t advocate compulsory vaccinations, but don’t come crying to me when you can’t get in to your favourite leisure activity because you don’t have the vaccination status the government has deemed a requirement.....or worse still....when you’re dead……maybe then, that hour out of your day to get boosted might have seemed a good idea.
I’m not too proud to sit back and say I was wrong, I’ve done it many times on here and no doubt many times again.
Where I don’t need to educate myself though is the absolute fact that this is going nowhere. Double jabbed plus booster or not. It will evolve, develop new variants. What do we do? Continue with restrictions for the rest of our lives? I know friends who locked down last year and missed the chance to see their relative one last time who suddenly died. I don’t can’t carry on doing this every few months. The winter always brings an upsurge in hospitalisations through flu, it was in the papers every year so it’s no shock to see an uplift in hospitalisations
We will see.
So what should we do in the meantime?
Let everyone get it, hospitals over run, loads of deaths from Covid and guess what deaths from other serious illnesses that don't get the right attention and care because of Covid.
As knowledge and medicine develops, the risk and impact of such mutations should decrease. Chris Witty explained it the other day that he has a 5 year view on what will happen and each 6 months gets better than the last because of advances in medicine.
Without getting in to debates about the ins and outs of all Covid aspects and just sticking to vaccines, this is my view-
Unless your medically unable to have them, just bloody have them. Don’t use the Tories being tories for reasons not to. Help yourself, your loved ones and the general community by having them. Thank your lucky stars you have access to them and aren’t stuck in a country where people have struggled to get access to even one jab. Things aren’t great but my god, they’d be a damn site worse had millions of people not done their (extremely small) bit and had the vaccines on offer.
There’s an element of people across society who see a vaccine as one part of them being told ‘what to do’ and they don’t like it. It could be a vaccine, a curfew, a rule to wear a mask or just parking space lines on Asda, they’ll not want to stick to any of it because that is their personality and in some cases I think they get a thrill from going ‘against the grain’.
I can take all sides of arguments on lockdowns and general rules being put in place but not on vaccines. Unless you’re able to refuse on medical grounds there’s no excuse.
Like Magnets, I’ve not been told anything but have opted for the antibodies test.
had a text saying mine was coming soon. Just a case of dripping some blood into a container and sending it off ... simples!! Feeling better today no shivers at least. But still no taste or smell!!! How you feeling pemps lad?
