If we have a game scheduled for a Friday night with all corporate seating and boxes sold and then Latics get an FA cup draw for the Saturday, we will have to move our game. He was quite matter of fact about this and up front.
It's a good job pathetic have been knocked out of the FA cup then aint it
Noble basically said that they reason our style of play isn't as exciting was partly down to the squad we have and due to the enormous importance of field position and territory in the modern game, said they are working on finetuning skills to allow them to be more expansive in situations they weren't last year.
Also Paul from Pem was funny.
Yes, i agree, its not like we had one of the best halfbacks in the world in our squad last year..............oh hang on!
looks like i were right about sam tompkins not being ready last season!!
did you ask IL a question about how he could have done things differently??
Yes I did.
However, it is Tomkins and sorry but I disagree with Noble's argument and would have spoken up about it. I actually found his comments interesting and would have enjoyed Noble having the full evening to discuss the team.
I disagree because A) The young men are ready because if they are not we must be doing something wrong given youngsters are fine at Castleford, at St Helens, at Leeds etc etc, in the NRL and B) They are not selected on merit. Sam should have been given games from the bench after Whitehaven. Mathers was never selected on merit. Joel Tomkins was hailed as an example but he was not selected because he was ready. He was selecyed because Lockers got injured and Noble had no choice.
You are allowed to think and agree/disagree with coaches etc.
I agree with his comment re wing play. Unfortunately, if the tatics are right in the middle and you make holes up the middle you get stroll in tries out wide E.G N.Z in the World Cup

What needs to b mentioned is that there were subtle points, and not just the big announcements that simpletons on here want.
I have been heavily critical in recent weeks of the continually growing list of cock ups and it did become apparent that the people i place at the start weren't fully armed and ready, through no fault of their own. It appears they are now learning, investing and things are moving forward at a greater pace.

“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
“If you can accept losing, you can't win.”
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
And yet presumably you approve of him significantly upping the pay of our best youngsters in order to keep them at Wigan?
It's a balancing act and it's about priorities. He also mentioned that he envisaged 'in the medium term' that we are seeking to provide the bulk of our players from out own Academy, with about three world-class players from elsewhere.
He also mentioned that the current situation would change radically in 2010, when five of our current big earners come off contract.
But wouldn't these 5 big earners be the more senior/bigger name players in the squad. These too will need replacing and if there's no investment in big name players mid table is where we'll be heading. I still can't comprehend the whole cash flow situation at the club, there's something seriously amiss if we can't match the spending power of St Helens!
I quite enjoyed it but I missed a couple of questions due to JTB, woody, Hogan, Jukesays and Twosevenzero weting themselves when a guy introduced himself as "Phil McCraken fron Standish". Although I'm sure he said 'Bill'.
