Holdsworth is an Aussie.

how do you know holdsworth wouldn't do one if a NRL club came calling. there is no comparision in this Soward is a far better player than Holdsworth.

soward has shown he can defended and very well, he did a very good job against in the WCC. passing game is qaulity, running game is qaulity, kicking game is qaulity. the only thing that lets him down is drifting out of matches but i dont think it will happen with our structers and in superleague

   this is a double blooper. holdsworth is an aussie mate so if he started to shine at wigan he could be on hes way back to aus. Also thanks for supporting my view on soward he is a qaulity player and thats why he got hes call up to NSW in last years origin, so all in i would say Soward would be the better signing. but i do agree with you that we do need to keep the core players for some stability but it wont happen at wigan because any half decent player comes up the union lot will start tapping them up. hopefully hampshire will make the step up in the next 2 years and stick around for awhile.

i thought he was Welsh , i'd still take a pop on him due to the Matty Smith connection, Soward would have to get used to the superb weather we have as well as getting used to a new halfback partner, with Holdsworth that work is already done

hes already played at the DW in the world club challenge and had a very good game so i am sure it wouldnt bother him to much, and i think hes kicking game would take us that step up from what we are now.

Not long before they'll be ready to be introduced to Super League although playing regularly is another matter and it's impossible to tell. I'd guess that both would be ready for at least one or two games in Super League next year.

Was talking to a mate who regularly watched Hampshire in his amateur days at Normanton Knights. He said that Hampshire is a real talent when everything is going well but goes missing when the rough stuff starts. Be interesting to see if he has the heart for first team rugby ala Sam Tomkins or whether his talent is wasted due to lack of heart ala Kyle Eastmond. Time will tell

What both Holdsworth and Soward bring to their game is that they are both excellent goalkickers.
Next year is Pat's last on his current contract and whether he stays or not we don't know. Either of those two 6s would make ideal replacements for Pat, as far as goalkicking goes, when he eventually does leave.

very excited to see Ryan Hampshire develop into a top class super league player, perhaps a loan to a championship team next year to further development?
