For 2015. Sad to see Josh go but Makinson is a good replacement

| Not a rumour just an observation, we need a half back and a Prop, both must be 30+.
For Wane to claim we don't is just wrong. Our biggest weakness this year is a lack of leader in the Props. We also lack the quality to replace Green internally.
Ironically Flower may well become our Prop leader as a result of his recent exoeriences but that is a longer term development.
Brough would be a perfect signing, but we would still need an experienced Prop, Simms for me would have been perfect. Wire have recruited very well with him and Clark.

| Nothing has been signed yet as far as Burgess go's but its obviously a possibility he will go. There's no secret he has been offered a contract at the roosters and lets be honest who wouldn't be tempted regardless of age, money etc to go and play in the NRL. Just hope the club are sensible if he does go and try to convince him to come back to us if he does come back. That said some of the figures about what he is being payed/offered are way off the mark.
On the subject of props James has signed with Swinton, not sure what that means to his coaching situation with us.

Makinson hasn't signed anything. Either you have a unreliable source or you are simply making things up.

Do you mean in terms of carries? He averages just 1 less carry per game than Charnley and Burgess.

Not making it up, wouldn't see the point. Been told by one of the coaches of the amateur clubs who's players often are signed by both Saints and Wigan.
My cards are on the table, you seem extremely confident he's not signed, who've you heard from?

I have never and will never talk about where I get my info from. What I will say is that I've known about every Saints transfer over the last few years long before they've become public and Makinson has not signed for Wigan.

| I dont get all the fuss about Makinson. he isnt as good, in my opinion, as Charnley, Hall, Carney, Monaghan and if Burgess keeps progressing the way h e is he'll soon be better as well.
Sadly, he may be the 'best of the rest' from SL so if we are to replace both our wingers for 2016 i think we will need at least 1 from the NRL
I await to be shot down by the entire population of St Helens

Makinson won't break from his own half in the same way some of those players may, but he's a better close range finisher than them all (perhaps alongside Ryan Hall).
What is more likely against Australia - lots of line breaks from deep, or needing to finish off in tight spaces?

| Tommy would have done anything to play for Wigan at one stage. Now I reckon it would take a king's ransom to wrest him away from a club where he's had great success, and I doubt Wigan will consider he's worth that. Very strongly doubt there's any truth in this rumour at all.

Oh look, another Saints player that isn't as good as those at his rivals. It's amazing with all these lower level players that St Helens managed to beat Wigan two of three occasions, beat Leeds home and away, beat everybody in the league at least once, finish top of the table, win the Grand Final, despite losing every single creative player.
I wonder just how they did it.

They did it because the pack started to perform and build a platform for one of the best players in Super league in James Roby (and easily the Man of Steel IMO). You don't win games of RL by having the best wingers, but by having the best pack.
Makinson isn't as good a winger as all of those named. His finishing is over rated too and that's because Eddie and Stevo get into a lather about his swallow dive into the corner (that you can see every single week in the NRL). It's just not that special.
That said - he did well at full back in the GF.

| There seems to be a couple of rumours linking us with hudd players (along with the possibility of Taylor going to them on loan) but, if we are actually after a winger, I'd love to see McGilvary (sp) come in. Not sure they would let him go but they do already have Murphy and Broughton as ready made replacements along with a few promising kids.

| The WEP has us down as signing Larne Patrick. They say we've targetted him due to Flowers ban.
I can see a swap deal for Taylor.

Played both at points. He's typical of the type of prop Wigan like in that he's mobile. I think he'd improve no end here and is ideally suited to how we play.
He's had some storming games against us in the past.

Oh, absolutely. One can only imagine the level of inept coaching this prop forward has received at last season's league leaders, under former Bradford, St Helens and GB prop forward Paul Anderson and prior to that under one of the best coaches SL has ever seen with young players, Nathan Brown.
He must have struggled hugely.
Do you chaps actually think before you write or does this 'besottedness' you have with Wigan disable the ability to use your brain ?
