Brown has his cons as a coach undoubtedly, but his ability to bring through youth players who then go on to flourish is unquestionable.

To be fair it's a discussion on the rumour surrounding a Saints player. What do you expect?

Do you not think he's got improvement in him then? He will probably improve at Huddersfield as well but Wigans record for getting more out of players recently has been very good.

I watch him at Huddersfield and he's always shown huge potential but has never quite kicked on like I thought he would. I wonder if that's maybe because he's been used too sparingly given Andersons love of massive front rowers or maybe because he uses him in the backrow sometimes. I look at him and I think he's a perfect front rower in Wigans gameplan and suits our style of play that relies on mobile forwards.

Sometimes a change of club can just freshen up a player as well so improvements naturally occur.

Those are my opinions anyway but I suppose I could have just thrown a big hissy fit back at you

To be fair, you just justified him posting. By that logic when someone posts on a Wigan topic that doesn't involve any other club, they aren't justified, thus most of your posts here aren't justified?

I see your train of thought but I don't agree. I think forums like this are open for fans of any club, as long as they stick to the topic at hand. If Saints fans came here starting threads about Saints then that would be a bit weird. Saints fans talking about Wigan is fine as far as I'm concerned and the same can be said vice versa.

My point was that it's only natural to see an increase in Saints fans posting when it's a Saints player that's being discussed.

Anyway, let's stick to the topic of rumours as I'd hate to give someone the satisfaction of accusing me of contributing to the derailment of a thread again.

For what it's worth, Makinson won't be signing for Wigan. Brough and Patrick are also heavily rumoured at the moment.

Entirely valid view, when elaborated on.

I'm not convinced on the sweeping statement that Wigan get more out of players. For every Burgess, there's a Goulding, for every Farrell, there's a J Tomkins etc. It's very subjective and I personally think Wane could have improved Wigan further by getting more out of certain players.

Re Patrick. I think he'll end up at Wigan. He's been rumoured for ages now and is clearly a target. He's quite small for a front rower and is more impact than long minutes. Wigan's game faces a challenge IMO as their emphasis on mobile forwards is in stark contrast to Saints' emphasis on massive individuals. Defend the flanks properly and Wigan's game is relatively easy to handle. With that in mind, I can't help but think Wigan would be better served with a big prop. Dudson is average, Taylor wants away, Crosby is okay and Flower is decent. A real lack of top quality in the front row at Wigan for me.

Well, I'm not a gambling man but, if I was, I'd wager that if Saints hadn't won the GF there'd be a paucity of Saints fans on here. Call me cynical.....

There's a host of Wigan fans who post on the Saints board, I often engage in varied and reasoned debate with them, that's what forums are for.

I also very rarely post on the Wigan forum, but thought that was a point worth mentioning due to the nature of a comment. I would have done the same on any board. What's your point?
