But Richards had completely fulfilled his contract and was at the veteran stage anyway, and in the case of Mossop and Tomkins weren't their situations settled by the players' new clubs paying transfer fees? In which case, in all three instances the departures were resolved in gentlemanly fashion and the players saw out what remained of their curtailed contracts to Wigan's satisfaction.
The story with Taylor appears to be different. The club he wants to go to weren't prepared to buy him out of his contract and just wanted him on a free - and when Wigan said no, the player's reaction seemed to be to sulk.
I think those situations are very different indeed.
