Completely agree about the Players Union.

| Paul Gallen has been quoted as saying that he wants to finish his career in SL when his present contract finishes in Aus at the end of the 2016 season, the only problem is that by the end of that season he will be 35.

Salford his likely destination then, if the Doc is still around!

| If he's performing anywhere near his current standard he would be a great old head/pack leader for a year or two. Dependant on wages, injuries, drug testing etc.

| You'd imagine that even at 35 Gallen could be a fantastic signing in the mould of Quentin Pongia and more besides.
In truth though he's not the type of Signing Wigan make anymore and if there was any truth in him coming here it would be the likes of Salford, Wire and Catalans fighting for his signature.

| Wonder if we are looking at the Owen Farrell situation? Seems to be dropping down the pecking order for England with Ford being the favoured even if Farrell isn't injured.
He could be a natural replacement for Locky when he retires, Bateman I appreciate also could be the man for that position, and his kicking game would be at a level above anything we have seen since Botica.
If he does become second fiddle I doubt he would be too happy and I am sure he has an itch to scratch regarding playing for Wigan. The Union exemption to the cap also means we could pay him a competitive wage and be even more attractive as an addition. Obviously all the above is before we even consider the profile of such a signing.

| Would the RFL consider him a "Union Player" as, I believe, he was on the Wigan Scholarship Scheme before his dad and him went south?
It would take something to sign him in view of his salary and Wigan's pay structure. I can imagine them being naughts apart.

| Surely Ford is in the side because he has got more to his game than the limited O. Farrell?
If we were looking to 'turn' any RU player, there'd be a few on the list before Farrell in my book: Mike Brown, Danny Care, yer man Manoa at Northampton spring to mind.
But, as noted, they probably all earn more already in Union.

I'd certainly be interested in us buying Owen Farrell ... so long as we could introduce a rule-change whereby SL teams can bring on an extra guy purely to take conversions and then see him skedaddle back to the sideline before he gets in the way of the rest of the action.

Good. From 10 yards out he's a world beater, give him the ball in his own half with a clear run to the line and it wouldn't be a guaranteed finish.
