| What's happening with Sarginson, just seen he is OOC at the end of the year, suprised he isn't signed up a long term deal.
Someone of the Hull forum mentioned him going to Union, if available I reckon most SL and some NRL would be after him.

| In this morning's League Weekly the "Nosey Parker" column says that Union, namely Bath, are interested in both Sarginson and Charnley. Also that Sarries may be sniffing around too.
I know we don't usually take much motice of "Nosey" but he's hardly the first to mention either player going to Union.
Perhaps the signings of Manfredi and Gildart onto four year deals in the past couple of weeks has a lot to do with it?
Rads said at the last fans forum they were hoping to re-sign Sargy, Josh and Ryan Hampshire on deals within weeks, though this has not happened, or at least not been announced.
It also may be prudent to re-sign Tierney, also Thornley once he has shown he has regained full fitness.

Apparently Bath are set to become the wealthiest Onion club in the world this year so you would expect them to have plenty of financial clout when it comes to players

| Gallen to Leeds seems to be gathering momentumn which may see Rapira in a Wigan shirt after all. I would think only Salford would be competing for his signature to replace Taylor.
I think we will have space for a Prop in the squad as we surely can't be considering retaining Patrick.
I appreciate Rapira has an awful injury record but I think the lower intensity of SL would help with that and when he is fit he is a top quality Prop who will still be in his prime and very experienced. Should be a target in my opinion.

An NZ newspaper pretty much confirmed Rapira had signed for Leeds last week, but we shall see.

Saints were also tenuously linked with Rapira. Personally I wouldn't want him as he is a steady grafter when fit but that's becoming less often.
I don't think that he is good enough for the reward to outweigh the risk. Gallen on the other hand would still be a top tier signing for any SL club.

| Leeds will probably have room under the cap and a need for two props anyway so I wouldn't rule out them getting both Gallen and Rapira (although it'll probably be another prop plus Rapira).
The doubts over Rapira's fitness would make me stay well clear but I did say the same about Campese and that gamble is paying off for HKR.

| Whilst I think we need another forward next year I don't necessarily think we need a big name.
Everything really depends on what happens with Lockers.

| I may get shot for this, but here goes ....
I think its time Lockers retired.
Season by season he is getting more prone to injury, and whilst its great when hes fit, having him in the squad means we are paying out big money for a handful of games. It also disrupts the team, because they are setting up pre-season with him at 13, but he's not there most of the time. This impacts on the combinations between 6/7/9/13, which have to be learned in the season, rather than be drilled in during Dec and jan.
Time for him to bow out at the top, and handover to Bateman.

I read a couple of comments from Wane today about Lockers that seemed to hint at retirement at the end of the year.
It's hard to say he should retire because he's such a big player for us but we certainly need more games from him. I think he'll go on but I wouldn't be shocked if he decided to quit. He's got a coaching job waiting for him and these injuries are going to take a toll on his body that will effect him post retirement.

| We always get 20+ games from him and he's never missed a final. Obviously I don't know his medical condition but if he can continue to manage that sort of level I'd be plenty happy to keep him on another season after this. He is massive for us in those crunch knockout games

| if Lockers does retire then I'd like to see two things happen:
1- Bateman gets the 13 shirt or at least gets the first shot to cement that position for himself. He's put in some good performances over the last year and a half. JB to 13 looks like logical progression for him and the side imo.
2- We bring in another back row player. I personally think it's too soon to be talking about Connor Farrell as a week in week out bench player. I'd love to see us move for Danny Kirmomd if Wakey go down. At 29/30 he's a perfect stop gap to fill up a bench spot. .

| Kirmond is just as injury prone as Flanders at this point in time, and he's not been anywhere near as good since the season he made the dream team.

Recently read an article on PG, stated he always envisaged himself as a one club man, however after contract issues might leave the Shire. However he did also state he'd be looking for a Sydney based team as he wouldn't be wanting to move his young family overseas.
My money would be on him staying at the Sharks, if a move would happen perhaps Manly would be a possible destination with a few coming off their cap for over the next few years, really don't see him ever in SL.
Used to think Rapira was fantastic, however I don't see the point in investing in a 'beat up' prop.

I'm not counting on anything till I see the voting, not sure if we'll get 7 clubs to agree to it.

The clubs I'd expect to agree:
Wigan
Hull
Salford
Huddersfield
Catalan
Warrington
Leeds
The clubs I'd expect not to
Wakefield
Castleford
The ones I'm not sure about
St Helens
Widnes
Hull KR
It could be close.

| re: lockers retiring and bateman being 13
depends on if you want our style of play to change. Don't see anyone in current squad with passing ability lockers brings. when hes missing we miss that forward who can pass the ball with the defence in his face to a decent standard and commit defenders. havent seen bateman doing enough of this - he's been more the liam Farrell/joel backrower of running hard and grafting.

Can't disagree with this really, but marrying the very recent posts. If ST is to be our marquee, we'll be able to splash the cash to get at least a stop-gap replacement, no ?
