Just out of interest if Edwards accepts the Wigan job what will the fans reaction be?! Will we not support him once he takes over or will there be a constant non backing of him? Or will we accept the mess that has happened and give him our full backing?
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

I think at the time people would be disgruntled but by pre-season it would be forgotten and they would get behind him. Get off to a bad start and it will all get dragged back up though.
I'd rather we just announce someone else at this stage, or an extension for Lam if he is interested after all. Even if Edwards comes, I think its fairly clear he would probably leave at the first better offer he gets. That's not worth the risk for a man who hasn't even coached rugby league IMO.

Difficult one to answer, because if we now go and lose the next couple of games, having thought we'd turned a corner, and find ourselves back among the cellar dwellers, we'll probably start getting twitchy about Lam again. I don't think anyone expects silverware this year, after such a problem-filled start, but if we're down near the bottom, it'll be obvious that Lam isn't the man for the job. If the Edwards saga is still ongoing, we might inevitably look back towards him.
My concern would be whether we could ever trust him again. Quite simply, he should never have attended that press conference the way he did if there was any doubt in his mind. That was extremely deceitful, and at the full expense of the Wigan fans. Moreover, to then let his indecision start leaking out to RU journalists who initially - and with SE's connivance - tried to pretend that he'd only ever had a passing interest in an RL job, was adding salt to the wound.
I'm not sure I'd ever be comfortable with someone so duplicitous in the top job. They could be here one week and gone the next if something better comes along.
It’s a funny question considering that IL appointed him to get more bums on seats. The usual 10,000 or so will still go and that’s their prerogative. I’m one who gave up a few years back and pick and chose my games these days (there’s just far more worthwhile things my family deserve my money spent on). As one who IL was targeting to get back, I can say that if SE does indeed arrive in the winter, I won’t be bothering rushing down in February.
In my opinion the whole mess is just another reminder of what a wet fart RL is these days. Add the Hamlin drugs, Zak drink driving and Williams laughable is-he isn’t-he issues, I’m just not all that arsed enough and nobody is showing me I’m missing a fantastic product, be it at Wigan or in the wider sport.
My opinion is that SE should be let nowhere near the club after the way he’s treated the club and acted. The fact that he’s not yet been told where to go, is a sad enrichment of the Wigan club these days and the wider sport.
Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
Coming from first hand dealings with the club the whole debacle around Edwards doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. I think the blame lies solely with Kris Radlinski with regards to this, Edwards should have signed a contract before it was announced. It doesn’t surprise me if Edwards has changed his mind, if he’s been treated unprofessionally by the club.

However remiss IL and KR were about the contract business - and there are just as many stories saying that Edwards kept finding reasons why he couldn't sign - he should NEVER have led the Wigan fans up the garden path the way he did.
The OP asked the question would we want Edwards after this fiasco. Most seem to agree that SE too has behaved very unprofessionally throughout. There's absolutely no point him him saying that he has full respect for IL if his actions tell a different story. Apparently Wigan's offer is still open (amazingly, to me), but Shaun is 'still making his mind up'. That doesn't sound like a man who was stiffed over a contract, or someone who at his press conference gave a full commitment to the Wigan fans that a new dawn was coming.
Would I take SE as coach after this? Yes, but only if there was absolutely no one else. Because I wouldn't trust him not to leave us a week later if RU snapped its fingers.
