I would be absolutely over the moon if we signed Fein. Experienced hooker who would give us 2 seasons to evaluate the market for back up hookers.

Still a cracking player. Not sure what age has to do with it if he is still producing the goods which he is.

speaking yesterday with a friend who is a Leeds fan and he was saying that they currently very active in a hunt for a 6 for next season and speaking with two clubs about signings, the players being Brierley at Leigh and Hampshire with Hampshire being their preferred option. I could actually see that happening with Wanes bizarre refusal to give him a chance in the halves. Cant help but feel it will be one that comes back to bite us in the aris for a good number of years if it happens.

Friend, not Fein. Fein is retired.

Friend just *nearly* retired.

What age has got to do with it, jon, as you yourself imply, is that it's only a stop-gap solution. Friend is a decent, if not great, hooker. I've been reading Kiwi fans complaining about him for years. Still, they complain about others you and I might think perfectly decent too, such as Mannering. Friend scores very few tries and his kicking game is limited. However, I'm not saying he couldn't be a handy addition to the club, I'm sure he could.

When it's been rumoured previously about him coming back as a player only I didn't feel we needed him but I think that's changed. We could with him on both counts IMO. We need a back up hooker and we're obviously light on the coaching front.

Tough act to juggle both but he seems a cool head and he's a leader.
