Dave Taylor all the size in the world, no heart. A forward of his size and speed should be devastating. I don't imagine there was a queue of NRL clubs after him. Will be amazing in France on his day, but will probably suffer the away day blues like the rest of the Catalans

Who are you comparing him to, though? I'm comparing him to Patrick, Tautai and even our best second rowers and, for me, he strolls into our team. You say he has all the size in the world and no heart? Too many of ours have all the heart in the world and no size.

Spot on!

Lets also not just narrow this down to Taylor as there's been some very good players signed up for next season. Not all of them are 'lacking in heart' or can be labelled not good enough to cut it in the NRL.

To put it blunty - our NRL recruitment is either none existent or simply awful.

You'd have to think a move in the transfer market is on the cards given the exits. I know Sam Tomkins will be expensive but with the marquee rule in force I can't see why we would be letting go Bowen, Burgess, Thornley, Logan Tomkins and more then likely Patrick, Hughes and Greenwood if we didn't have somebody else in the pipeline.

Personally I would have the player with heart, I would sooner offer a better deal to Bateman than pay over the odds for a player who never lived up to his potential. He has struggled to get in one of the poorer NRL teams. He has had drug issues, not for me a marquee signing. Do I think Wigan should be looking to the NRL well I do but not signing Taylor, Galloway, Sandow does not mean that the club are not looking.

When we signed Sam Tomkins it was said that his signing wasn't dependent on the marque rule being passed.

Now that to me says the Marque rule being passed will have opened up more funds (unless its just all gone to Sam)

I'm not but if he was available prior to the marquee rule then it should mean there's now room available.

I.e if he agreed to say a £300,000 deal then in a post marquee world it would free up £200,000 for someone else.

Like you said i can't imagine he's come cheap so it's only rational that he was on well over £100k.

Exactly. Wane mentioned that the rule would probably allow him to keep players who otherwise may have had to be moved on but a clearing of the decks seems to be happening (going off rumour) with Logan Tomkins and Thornley definitely going and guys like Jack Hughes and Patrick probably following.

That would make you think they're making way for something else. If not the squad shall be paper thin next year with no real back up at wing, centre or back row.
