Eggs in one basket?
It's deceptive and not as clear cut as all eggs in one basket;
1- Sam Tomkins is a once in a generation type player. I'd argue he's the single most talented player to ever come out of our academy. We are rightly, imo, going to lean heavily on him as he is that good. There's nothing wrong with that.
2- We've also extended a few contracts (Faz, Gelling & Mcilroum)
3- Patrick and Hughes technically only contribute as one wage and not two.
Even if the 5 players above earned £25k each that's a total of £125k in wage savings (you'd expect Bowen and Thornley to be on more btw). Sam is our marquee signing so he's only offsetting £100k against the cap.
That's leaves a chunk of leftover cash + Pettybournes wages so it's not like all of our money has gone simply in Sam.
