Going with the facts and rumours of this week.
Fact that Chase as re-signed with Cas.
Rumours of Amos seeing a surgeon who has indentified a problem with his knee leading to him having an op this week.

Chase will not be going anywhere so if Deacs retires then do we deduce Mellor will come into the first team at stand off? He played SL for Quins on a loan spell early this season and did very well at Widnes following that.

Should Roberts recover well from his op and return to full fitness do we expect him to play first team rugby again for Wigan? It would give an great opportunity to play him right wing with Josh as his centre. Joel returning to the pack as our right sided second row man. This would give Josh further experience at centre with very experienced men around him.
Possible first 17 team for 2012 after those thoughts.

S Tomkins,
Roberts, Charnley, Carmont, Richards,
Mellor, Finch,
Fielden, Leuluai, Lima,
Hock, J Tomkins,
O'Loughlin. Bench, McIlorum, Prescott, Mossop, Laualki.

That would give us blistering pace in the backs.
A playmaker scrum half and a running stand off.
The pack would be massive with pace, power and plenty skill.

I like it! That would be choice of 17 at preset also. But I would make one change. Hansen should be somewhere in the 17, if not starting.

I agree. If Lauaki (however its spelt) starts or gets a bench spot over Hansen the poop will hit the fan.

Lauaki will get a spot over Hansen if he's better than him. Lauaki will get a spot over anyone if he turns out to be better than them.

Let's not go down the route of ruining a lad before we've seen him in a Wigan shirt.

Im judging them on ability ive seen from them as of now. If Lauaki proves to be better than somebody and earns his spot then fair enough get him in.

Anybody who pulls on the cherry and white will get my full support no matter who they are.

I would prefer not to have Charnley & Roberts on the same side in the defence, it's a recipe for disaster.

Roberts has to earn his place back in the team. The only way I can this happening is if he gets a shot at 1 and S Tomkins does a shift at 6 after Deacon - which is unlikely.

It will be interesting next year as to who gets the nod at RW - we also have Goulding who can play centre.

Don't see why people reckon Mellor should be given a starting shirt so quickly. We need someone experienced playing there and then to bed him in gently.

He's not played in a SL or Cup game yet and were not going to throw him into the deep end against Saints in the Magic Weekend or maybe even in the WCC (if we get there)
