His capture would put bums on seats and provide some much needed publicity for the club - discuss..

Wigan have spent their Marquee money on another Sam, so unless they want to break the salary cap or convince him to play for free then sadly he won't be Wigan bound

I'd be back to Sydney like a shot! Family, sun on your back, fame and the chance to play a proper sport.

With the likes of Issac Luke and Glenn Stewart leaving Souths you'd hope they've got room (not sure who else they may have signed though).

Wigan signing Sam Tomkins wasn't dependent on the marquee rule coming in but if the outside bet of him staying in superleague came off it would probably be with Leeds.

As we know their players play mainly for the love of the club but I'm sure they'd find enough hugs for Big Sam.

Biggest club in the country, treble winners, space on the cap, club he supported as a boy. If he came to SL, I think Leeds would be the obvious option.

Totally agree

Us pies are bricking it

Thats why the majority of posters thus far have said they would happily have Sam at Leeds, just so long as he is in the sport......

Ryan Hampshire to Cas : Mon Oct 26, 2015 11:16 pm
DO NOT MERGE THIS THREAD

League Express said today he is set to join Castleford on loan for next season.

It is nearer to his home given his family still live in Wakefield but given that Cas have Luke Dorn at fullback, Ben Roberts and Luke Gake in the halves, Milner and McShane at hooker and have just got rid of Liam Finn I cant see much point in him moving there. He will only be a stop-gap reserve utility player there just as he is at Wigan. Barring injuries, I imagine he wont be starting many games for Cas.

The positive is that Darryl Powell and Danny Orr there both have success at bringing half backs on in terms of improvement with Luke Gale and Marc Sneyd both great examples.

Negative is that he will be in a much more unprofessional environment (just look at the Justin Carney and Nathan Massey soap opera) and he will be forced to forget the Wigan attacking and defensive systems that he has learned through the academy. Also, we tend not to have a great record of seeing improvement from players sent out on loan these past few years Greg Burke, James Greenwood, Logan Tomkins, Jamie Doran etc.

In my opinion this is a bad move when you take all these factors into account. It suggests to me he doesnt have a future at the club, especially given the fact there is now talk of reintroducing a reserve grade - if ever, now is the wrong time to leave.

Guessing you're on about Hampshire? Was on about this with a fella from work who supports Cas. It's looking we'll get Carney as some part of the deal especially with the Monaghan announcement today.
