They are Cas 1,6 & 7 for next season. The obvious answer to your question is that they are better players than Ryan. (And BTW Gale was very good in a poor Bulls team)

I wasn't discrediting Ryan. I want to see him stay at Wigan and fight for a first team place. The success of George Williams may prompt Waney to give Ryan a chance at half back. Sam's injury casts doubt already, and Smith had a poor season so the pressure is on him from the off, so IMO Ryan is needed here.

Will he become better than the three Cas players mentioned? Hopefully. And hopefully for Wigan. I don't want to see him loaned out. It makes no sense to me either for the player or for the club.

Didn't he move to Penrith because he wanted to be nearer family? Seem to remember the footy show doing a piece about it, I'm pretty sure it was him anyway so I wouldn't imagine a move over here would be top of his to do list

Never seemed settled or anything like the talent he was since his days at the Dogs. Left GC Titans early now the Panthers.

He looked a world beater at the Dogs.
Not seen him on TV for years now. No doubt I suppose his form has dropped and he's had distractions.
I don't see any mileage in it for Wigan.
If he comes here and flops an amount of cap and quota space on a player who can't hold his place in the team. If he turns out a world beater again he'll be off like shot to the NRL and won't come anywhere near seeing out his contract, if it's over one season.
One to avoid I think.

I'd be immensely jealous but if it's Leeds or Bath then there's only one team I want to see him at.

I'd be surprised if he went anywhere other then Souths if he does come back to league but stranger things have happened.

LOL at Mike 'why don't we try you out at centre!' Ford thinking he can talk Burgess into staying in Union.

Sam's just experienced the best Union can offer - and has been humiliated on a world stage.

I suspect it'll take a lot more intellect than Mike Ford possesses to persuade him to give them the rest of his career.

Then again, he can always go back to counting his fine collection of English bank-notes.

I didn't see anything wrong with starting SB off at centre in union, it's easier in terms of generally getting a feel for the game than the more specialised 6 or 8 which would have been the medium-term objective.

Whether he should have been selected as a centre for England is another question.

As it turned out, he didn't do much wrong and quite a bit right, and hanging him out to dry as they did is disgraceful.

Like virtually all league fans, I imagine, I'd love to see him back in our sport. If there were to be a spell in SL, even better as far as I'm concerned.

We could see how Wigan's pack of 'lightweights' fared against him!
