I think Tierney will be the reserve wingman, taking over Manfredi's role of last season.
Tierney can also cover for full back if it turns out Hampshire does go to Cas.
Whether Fell gets a look in, well we shall see!

dont forget sarge is also fb cover, and he and gelling could cover the wing if they dont think fell is ready yet.
there is plenty of backup in the backs

Whilst our recruitment is a little frustrating at the moment, it could be worse, we could have recruited the players Saints have.

There is a 5 page thread on the Leigh board saying Leigh are interested in Josh, some fans saying they should go for him and others saying that Leigh have no chance.

One interesting post is by a very well respected Leigh fan who as well as having a lot of contacts at Leigh is also friends with a lot of the Wigan senior staff. Below is what he had to say about Joshes state of mind and determination for next season.

"Atomic you are right about Josh and Shaun Wane,they are not the best of friends , but I've been told Charnley has promised Shaun a BIG year from him next season which is why I can't see him coming to Leigh, Shaun also expects big things from Gildart as well next year ,I would love to see Josh at Leigh next year along with Rocky Hampshire who I rate very highly."

I've been told Wane and Charnley had a fall out last year but all is well again.

Huge start to next year for him. He needs to get a few try's on the board to build his confidence and take it from there.

I have heard now form two different sources close to Sam Tomkins that he won't be available until around May next year. Apparently his injury was misdiagnosed over in NZ.

If that's true about Sam it looks like Hampshire will be getting a good run out at full back next year.

Maybe this is why the Rocky to Cas for a season loan has gone quiet and also the Carney to Salford for a season loan has now emerged.

Id rather Hampshire be staying for reasons other than being cover for Sam's injury but I am generally a glass half full man so hopefully a longer stint for Hampshire could give him the breakthrough and it could also assist in who will take over the kicking role from Matty Bowen.
I believe that the medics in NZ missed the injury but I'm a bit startled that it has taken this long to establish the real extent of the injury sustained whilst he was there.
Carney to Salford surprised me as I thought he was off to Hull so I can only assume the Doctor came up with more readies. We did make an enquiry on Carney but as far as I am aware a link with Hampshire was never on the cards but more a case of Carney was a bit too rich for us.
