Does someone do that job for us now? Though I hate to say it, I’d say Warrington are leading the way in Superleague of how a club should be run off the field. Ian’s Lenegan and Rads needs a wake up call, the club is falling to pieces and their answer is to promote a big game on a poster at Abram Guest gates or the building site fencing near to Wigan baths. Is that what we have become, advertising on a level with Billy Smarts circus? Mind you, we are a bloody circus at the minute.
I’d like to think so but considering what you’ve just said and the saddening truth of it I do have to wonder.
Just to further that point about our unbelievably poor marketing - that’s a major reason why fans stay away. You’re only going to get X amount of core supporters present home and away week in week out rain or shine. The rest you have to entice in by way of superb marketing. Warrington’s average attendance in 2012 was 11,166 (we had the best with 16,043). I’d be pretty amazed if that wasn’t beaten by 30%-40% this season.
Bigger crowds = bigger income thus bigger kitty for signings. We’ve got to speculate to acccumulate, something which IL has dramatically failed on in recent times. Instead we’ve been to London and Australia to bring in income when the answer is far simpler. Just look at what Warrington are doing!
